Bottle Auction: Western Dug- PAINTED Pontil Soda-Riddle Philada.

Western Dug- PAINTED Pontil Soda-Riddle Philada. Bottle Auction Description: Here is a spectacular example of California Gold Rush history. This deep blue green soda was dug in down town San Francisco in the early 1960s. This early soda is embossed " W. Riddle Philada." and the reverse has a giant embossed and fancy "R". The bottle is very whittled and crude as well as having a stunning metallic pontil, all intact with the red paint used by the western soda manufacturers to ensure their bottles were identifiable and would be returned. It is extremely rare to find a pontil in this condition. The entire bottle is beautiful, and never cleaned. Very shiny and pristine glass. There is a bit of inside water stain, and a tiny outside lip flake. No wear on the letters, or the body of the bottle. Maybe used once and tossed.Overall a true survivor from the gold rush. Buyer to pay $9.85 postage in the continental US. Good Luck!

Bottle Auction: EXT RARE OP snuff bottle / jar... APPLEBY'S RAILROAD MILLS SNUFF!

EXT RARE OP snuff bottle / jar... APPLEBY'S RAILROAD MILLS SNUFF! Bottle Auction Description: Here is a fantastic and VERY RARE early American snuff bottle / jar / utility! In a rectangular form, with chamfered corners, this bottle is embossed on the front panel "LEONARD APPLEBY'S / RAIL ROAD / MILLS SNUFF" in bottle lettering. One of the best snuff bottles out there! This one is a deep reddish amber color, and likely a dug bottle. It has a nice tubular pontil base, and lots of glass debris embedded into the glass. It also has a typical flared out "snuff-style" rim. I believe these to be from the Midlantic area, and the Appleby's factory to be in New Jersey. This may have been a predecessor to the Helmes snuff company. The "Railroad" reference is interesting, and would likely have good crossover appeal to railroad memorabilia collectors as well. Another "red amber" example sold in the famed Mebane collection some years ago for over $8000 plus the premium. Condition is good, but has a couple of issues. There is a cork pry small chip in the underside of the lip and a little edge roughness, which I pictured. I am also told that there is a very faint 1/4" fissure on a side panel, but I really have yet to find it. There is some minor wear and scratches. Bottle displays GREAT and looks nice on a shelf. Here is your chance to save big, and get a great rarity on your shelf!! I fully guarantee authenticity. An EXTREMELY RARE snuff jar, "RAILROAD MILLS SNUFF" in a reddish amber color!! Buyer pays shipping. 7 day return policy if not as described. Please check out our other listingsGOOD LUCK!

Bottle Auction: PONTILED DR. TOWNSEND'S SARSAPARILLA ALBANY NY EARLY NEW ENGLAND VARIANT PERFECT

PONTILED DR. TOWNSEND'S SARSAPARILLA ALBANY NY EARLY NEW ENGLAND VARIANT PERFECT Bottle Auction Description: Here we have an absolutely wonderful Dr. Townsend's Sarsaparilla from Albany, New York. This bottle is a real stunner, I've really looked it over carefully and can find no evidence of exterior wear whatsoever, it has not been professionally cleaned...just an attic mint bottle. Now on to the embossing Dr with a single slash underneath the "R", the "S" at the end is very faint and only about half the size of the other letters, it can be seen in one of the photos. Sarsaparilla runs the full length of the side and is well embossed as are the other panels. The third embossed panel reads Albany NY, in two lines, with NO periods. Other slight variations of the mold are a horizontal line on one beveled edge and two circular depressions on either side of the last "Y". Great condition, great embossing, GREAT glass character, numerous bubbles, wavy swirls which wrap the bottle multiple times, beautifully crude applied sloping collar, which still has some original "gunk" under the edge and interior. The base has a large 1 7/8 inch diameter pontil scar, this has a pronounced mold seam running across it. I didn't mention the large number of potstones and impurities in the glass, none of these have any associated problems. Height is 9 5/8 inches. It would be tough to beat this example...it has it all!!

I was fortunate enough to get a copy once, at that time he had over 1200 pontils meds in his book. He had hoped to publish it someday, but unfortunately time ran out. Chris was also a digger, we subscribed to the privy diggers newsletter in the early 1990's. If you sent in a pic of yourself in the hole, they would you send you a "PHD", for privy hole digger. Bottle Auction: Antique Enamel Painted Blown Blue Stiegel Glass Bottle 18th - 19th Century

Antique Enamel Painted Blown Blue Stiegel Glass Bottle 18th - 19th Century Bottle Auction Description: ANTIQUEHAND PAINTEDBLUE BLOWN STIEGEL GLASSBOTTLEI SHIP WORLDWIDE ATTENTION UK AND NON-US BIDDERS: Please note that if you are following my sales on a regular basis you should log onto the Ebay U.S.A. site rather than the Ebay.UK site in order to see the complete selection of auction items I have listed at any given time. For some reason the Ebay U.K. site filters from view the posting of sales by U.S. sellers containing the names of some of the better and more highly collectable English and German porcelain companies. I have no idea why this is, however, I do ship worldwide so you are welcome to bid on any of the items. Offered in this sale is a scarce blue blown Stiegel type glass bottle with hand painted enamel decoration that I would say dates to the earlier 1800s. I don't know if this is American or perhaps Bohemian in origin, however, it certainly is an early bottle. It measures roughly 6 1/8" tall x 3' wide x 2 3/8" deep. The condition is good. It has one small chip on the edge of the upper lip (6th image) and there is a very short stable line on the edge of the base rim from a bruise it sustained that is limited to the base edge and does not travel up a side or on the base (2nd image, upper left side), otherwise, there are no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or evidence of grinding. Be sure to enlarge and magnify each image for a close up view of the detail of the pattern and condition. You don't often find these early Steigel type bottles in blue. Please feel free to email with any questions. I always guarantee everything that I sell to be as described. This piece is being sold WITHOUT A RESERVE as long as there is an opening bid. High bidder to pay $6.00 shipping/ including insurance - inside the United States. Bottle Auction: Crude Stoddard Embossed Whiskey 1860's Look !!!

Crude Stoddard Embossed Whiskey 1860's Look !!! Bottle Auction Description: You are bidding on a C.A. Richards 99 Washington St. Boston. Whiskey Bottle. These bottles are known to have been blown at the stoddard glass factory. I would date this bottle to the 1860's and is in very good condition. The bottle has a very nice applied sloping collar and is a very nice chocolate amber color with some red highlights when held up to the light. There is no chips cracks etc.... Just one flea bite sized open bubble on the base totally done in the making. There is a small area of in the making discoloration done during the cooling process. It kind of looks like a small area of dullness with a rainbow patina near the base. This bottle is full of bubbles and is just a super early piece. thanks and good luck.

Jan hated to part with these, but it became a necessity. For those of you who knew Chris, you know he was passionate about pontil meds, kept extensive records, and in the last few years was collecting Ex-Greer bottles. He diligently kept track ofthe variants & prices, constantly updating his records at shows & with auction results. He got his and used it in his ebay name "PHDCHRIS", it got a lot of responses from people wondering what his doctorate was.A picture with Chris in the middle, I am on the left, and Tony "POOCH" Panepucci on the rightPaypal accepted, please email me for any other payment options. Bottle Auction: Sparkling MINT Light apricot orange DR.C.W.ROBACKS STOMACH BITTERS CINCINNATI,O

Sparkling MINT Light apricot orange DR.C.W.ROBACKS STOMACH BITTERS CINCINNATI,O Bottle Auction Description: WELCOME and thanks for stopping by. Let me start by wishing you all a very happy New Year. Pleaseremember to drink responsibly and designate yourself a good driver. SO......Here up for bids is a MINT condition DR. C.W. ROBACKS STOMACH BITTERS from CINCINNATI, OHIO in the less common (it's certainly less common in my experience) 9 1/2 inch size. As stated, this bottle is in mint condition with only some very light base wear. This bottle doesn't appear to have ever been cleaned and it most definitely has never been in the ground. The color appears as a medium amber without any light passing through it. But in a window or on a back lighted shelf, the color really POPS! Shown in two pictures for color comparison purposes only, you'll see the Roback's next to two different Stoddard utility/medicine bottles. Neither of which, are part of this auction. Only the Roback's is up for auction. The winning bidder is sure to be pleased with this one. Lighter in color than most other examples I've encountered, it will surely make for a nice color contrast in a run of darker barrels,or will just look great all by itself. Offered up out of my personal collection with NO RESERVE!! GOOD LUCK!!Payment through paypal is expected within a week's time, but a quick payment is never turned down and would certainly be greatly appreciated. Once payment clears, I'll do my best to get your packagein the mail ASAP. Please remember to ask questions before entering a bid and if you can spare the time, take a look at my other items and keep watching for more bottles and other cool stuff to comein the near future. THANKS and have a GREAT New Year!! ( :

Bottle Auction: Bright and Crude Drake's Plantation Bitters.

Bright and Crude Drake's Plantation Bitters. Bottle Auction Description: Here is a beautiful Drake's Plantation Bitters. Try as I might on this cloudy day, I cannot capture the brilliance of this cabin. This example was dug in Virginia City, Nevada in 1990. It was one of three found and while the other two were stained, this one came out of the ground in attic like appearance. The color shades from a reddish orange to light yellow orange in the corners. I will try to post additional pics if the sun ever comes out. This is a four log Drake's and is whittled and crude while maintaining it's features as a cabin bitters. Condition is dare I say mint...not a scratch, chip, flash, or stain. A pristine beauty found on the Comstock.Buyer to pay $9.85 postage in the continental US. Good Luck!

In this auction, we have an original, circa 1899, black transferware pot lid with matching jar. The lid reads "Oriental Toothpaste for cleaning and beautifying and preserving the teeth & gums prepared by Jewsbury & Brown, Ardwick Green Manchester, England." The Jewsbury & Brown Company dates back to the mid 1800s. In addition to manufacturing Oriental Toothpaste, the company was widely involved in the production of soda and mineral water beverages. This jar was used by local druggists, chemists or dentist-surgeons who often sold their own dental products such as tooth powder, toothache medicines and tinctures for gum disease. This was common practice among the most respected practitioners of the 18th and early 19th century. The jar measures approximately 1.5 x 3 x 3". The jar and lid sides mimic the pattern of marble. There is crazing, toning, rubbing, and slight chip inside the jar and lid. But the transferware on the lid remains in great condition. Please see all of our photos. This is a great item for the antique pot lid collector! Happy Bidding! Found this interesting information from oralhealthgroup website (GREAT site!) Pot lids are the covers or tops of small pottery containers that first appeared in England around 1840 when town and cities were expanding rapidly. Retailers produced a larger number of household commodities for domestic use or consumption such as bear's grease, toothpaste, cold cream, salves and ointments or cure-alls, edible pastes and shaving cream were packed in earthenware pots with advertising printed on the lids. The pot and lid were eventually consigned to the dustbin and then off to the local dump. The lids were frequently decorated by transfer-printing to describe the contents. Prior to the invention of the transfer-printing process, the brand names of manufactured goods were hand-lettered onto the side of the pot or described by means of a paper label pasted on the lid. Transfer-printing process introduced a much quicker and economical method of describing the contents. Although still laborious by today's standards, this labeling method also allowed for a greater degree of artistic expression and enticed buyers by the aesthetic appeal of the package. This process was distinctively English. It originated in Liverpool in the second half of the eighteenth century. Although not in general use for packaging until the 1840s, transfer printing was used for domestic porcelain and pottery in the intervening period.Orders for transfer-decorated pots made by Staffordshire potters were received from many countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Italy and India.Estimated shipping weight, (packaged) is 2 lbs 8 oz in a 6 x 7 x 7 ************What a great find!KEEP SCROLLING THERE ARE 10 MORE PHOTOS. Please note: We put up a very ecclectic collection of items and are not experts in every area, so descriptions are our best guess as to what something is. While we try to research each item to the best of our ability, it is the buyer's responsibility to know what they are buying. TERMS OF SERVICE EBAY is ALL we do for a living, husband and wife (Norb & Marie) working together, while we home school our kids on our farmette in Rural Delmarva. We have worked very hard to build our little business and it is very important to us. We try and do business the old fashioned way and have a rather simple outlook. Treat all of your customers as if they are family. Be courteous, answer emails, be fair in all your deallings and try and make friends of each and every customer. BUT... with eBay's new star rating and the rate increases in the U.S. Postal rates we needed to define and explain our methods of business. ONE - Who We Deal With We sell and ship world wide to anywhere, so please email us for a quote to wherever you happen to be. TWO - Shipping Charges We charge shipping based on the USPS system, we will sometimes ship via courier if we can get it to you within the same time frame or faster. We add a reasonable cost for materials, normally that is $2.00 for regular sized packages. For small flat items $1.00. That covers the expense of boxes, envelopes, bubble wrap, peanuts, (We only use new packing materials, life is too short to scrounge through dumpsters). For larger items that take a larger more expensive box, we charge a little more, to cover the special box, example paintings or lamps. For oversized items or items that will take special attention to package, (Build a crate, wrap a zillion things individually, etc.), we ask you to email us for a quote on shipping prior to the auction ending. If you do not, we charge the same amount as if you did. In other words WE NEVER GOUGE OUR CLIENTS SHIPPING COSTS!! THREE - International Shipping We charge shipping based on the USPS international system. The rates follow the same guidelines as number two above, though for international customers we add an additional $1.00 to cover the extra paperwork involved in international shipping. If an amount goes over $50 in value we will only ship it with Priority or Express Mail, regardless how small an item. That allows for us to have international tracking. There is no tracking available on First Class Mail. FOUR - Insurance eBay's policies no longer allows us to charge the client for insurance. But... we still apply insurance to any item that goes over $27.00 in value. We reserve the right to use the insurance carrier of our choice. Sometimes that is Postal or the Carrier's Insurance and sometimes that is a private insurance company such as DSI or U-PIC/Shipsurance. If we use a private insurance company the package will not be marked insured, but it will be. FIVE - Methods of Payment Accepted We abide by eBay's rules and try and stay abreast of their changes. We accept Paypal. Paypal also accepts the major credit cards, or we also take Credit Cards Directly over the phone, (MC, VISA, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS, CARTE BLANCHE, DINERS CLUB, JCB) Bottom line, whatever method is most convenient for you. SIX - Time Frame To Pay We ask all auctions to be paid for in the fastest possible time frame. (This is all we do for a living and we need the money to pay the bills and buy more unique and fun items to put up on eBay) SEVEN - Shipping Time Frame We make every effort to ship in a timely manner. We are home schooling the boys, listing tons of items, and as like any of us are just plain swamped, so we have to schedule a special time to pack and ship. We ship on a first paid, first shipped basis. (We do not ship any item until it has been paid and the funds have cleared.) With the ebb and flow of payments we manage to get everything out of the door within one week. If there is a rush, we will make every effort to work with you in getting it out of the door faster. As you can see from our feedback, we do not disappoint. OF COURSE, items that need special attention, crating, etc adds to the time frame of those items. EIGHT - Local Pickup Sometimes it makes sense to come by and pickup your items. Sometimes an item is just too big for any other option. If you've arranged local pickup with us, you must pickup the item within 30 days otherwise it will be subject to storage fees or relisting. Finally, NINE - Communication Please feel free to contact us at anytime, with any question or comment. Unless we are out of town we make an effort to answer all emails as quickly as possible.
