Bottle Auction: Superb - "DR. ROBACKS/STOMACH BITTERS" - Nice Bottle!

Superb - "DR. ROBACKS/STOMACH BITTERS" - Nice Bottle! Bottle Auction Description: Olive Amber - "DR. ROBACKS/STOMACH BITTERS" - Killer NO RESERVE ! These are tough to find with any decent characther to them as most you'll see are usually a little plain. This is the older less often seen large size variant with embossing that reads: "DR. C.W. ROBACK'S / STOMACH BITTERS / CINCINNATI. O" across the belly. It was hand blown into a two part mould in a deep golden amber colored glass, with a hint of olive, circa 1860s. It has a crude applied top and smooth base with a raised dot in the middle. Excellent clean, non polished original condition with nice character and no damage of any kind. For complete accuracy I note a couple of very light tiny scratches that you have to look close to even find, their really nothing. This fine example is nicely transparent, passes light with ease and displays great. A beautiful Rowback's with decent crudity and in problem free condition. NO chips, cracks, dings, stain, wear or repairs and never cleaned. Your bidding on the barrel bottle only, the other one is regular amber and shown for color comparison only. An extra nice example in excellent original un-touched condition. Buyer pays $10.85 for Priority Mail shipping and packaging in the U.S. Buyer assumes all shipping liability for uninsured items. Payment to be made within 10 days of the auction closeing please. However extended payment time may arranged prior to the auction ending. Other forms of payment also accepted if you choose. Bottle Auction: Carters Spanish Mixture,Soda bottle,Medicine bottle, ink

Carters Spanish Mixture,Soda bottle,Medicine bottle, ink Bottle Auction Description: Here is a wonderful example of a very very rare bottle. This bottle is bright olive green color. It is in very nice shape with minimal case wear. It is open pontil which is itself rare because most of these bottles are iron pontil which makes this one even more rare and more desirable. The color is perfect and the bottle has a very strong embossing that is very crisp. The bottle is embossed. CARTER'S SPANISH MIXTURE The embossing is on 3 lines. This bottle is very clean. There is on top of the lip a very minute tiny chip that is only mentioned for accuracy. I tried to take a picture of it but it is so small it won't show up in picture.I think it may even be just an imperfection in the bottle from when it was made. These bottles have sold on Glassworks auctions for $1200.00 and up and they have sold on Pole top Discoveries auctions for over $1000.00 .I pictured the flask with it so you could see the great color of the bottle and how clean it is.This bottle has not been cleaned but the flask has been cleaned so you can see this Carters bottle is really in great shape. Bottle Auction: H. P. Herb Bitters

H. P. Herb Bitters Bottle Auction Description: Attention bottle collectors and investors! There is one less perfect H.P. Herb Bitters out there, due to my carelessness and my 4 year old grandsons curiosity, (always keep your bottles where kids can not climb to). Bottle now has A BRUISE that overlays a bubble at the right corner of the roofs lower elevation on the unembossed side that does not have the surface bubble. (see Pictures 11 and 12) Damage occured on 10/20/2010 (a day i'll not soon forget). After I calmed down some, I had no choice but to end the auction early. Now I am relisting it as FLAWED and am revising the description. Here is a beautiful cabin type bitters offered with no reserve. On one side, bottle is embossed H.P. HERB WILD CHERRY BITTERS READING PA, wit h two logs above and two logs below. The opposite, WILD CHERRY , above a Cherry Tree, and BITTERS under it, also with two logs above and two logs below. The other two sides consist of two logs above, and two logs below unembossed panels. All four corners are roped like a Bakers Orange Grove, and base is squared. The roof is set at two different elevations. The lower four sides of roof are embossed BITTERS and the upper four sides are embossed with Log Shingles. Bottle stands approx.9 7/8" tall and is approx 3" square at base. This Bottle Has never been in the ground and retains full original luster. Top of bottle retains a very small amount of foil reside. There are no chips or open bubbles. Just a bruise (born on 10/20/2010) see pictures 11 and 12. Picture #9 shows a protruding unbroken surface bubble at the lower right corner of unembossed panel. Bottle Auction: Antique glass Keene Stoddard NH blown ink bottle early

Antique glass Keene Stoddard NH blown ink bottle early Bottle Auction Description: A few months ago, as I was clearing out the residue of an attic of an estate I came across a small leather trunk stuck in the corner. When pulled out and opened I found probably the best collection of early American glass I have seen. All the jars and flasks, about 30 in all, made by the Stoddard and Keene Glass companies here in NH. These flasks were wrapped in newspaper with the date 1943 and carefully tucked away for these past 67 years! This is a 7 inch , green, blown ink bottle. In very good condition with no cracks or chips there are some mold imperfections in some of these, as can be seen in photographs, it will ship for $8.88 I will be listing the last of them all this week so if you are interested in bottles, flasks, jars etc from the early glass companies of the US you may want to check back often this week. Keene Glass Factories There were a few glasshouses in Keene during the first half of the 19th century. One was formed in 1814 and blew primarily window glass. This was known as the "Keene Window Glass Factory", and the company flourished until the 1850s, however, there were very few bottles, flasks or utilities blown there. The concentration of the collectible flint glass tableware, bottles, and flasks was produced at the Keene-Marlboro Street factory. Henry Schoolcraft (later known for his exploration of the Ozarks and documentation of Native Americans) established this factory in 1815 with the help of associates, Daniel Watson and Timothy Twitchell. They produced primarily patterned flint glass tableware (decanters, tumblers, pans, etc) to compete with the imported cut glass. These geometric patterns were quite beautiful and intricate in design. Colors of the flint glass range from colorless to deep blues and greens. The factory also produced many early flasks which include designs of eagles, sunburst and Masonic emblems. After running into financial difficulties, the factory was taken over by Justus Perry in 1819. Efforts were concentrated on flasks, bottles, inkwells and utilitarian wares made from bottle glass in deeper, darker colors. Although this "bottle" glass was less refined than that of the earlier flint glass, it proved to be more cost-effective. Perry took on a partner, John Wood, in 1822, who later sold his shares in the company to Sumner Wheeler in 1828. The Keene sunburst flasks were produced at this time. These flasks were embossed within the center of the rays, "Keen" and "P&W", and are available in a pint and 1/2 pint size. Perry and Wheeler continued to produce bottles, flasks, inks and commercial wares until around 1841. As the business began to dissolve, one of the master glassblowers, Joseph Foster, also known as "Old Bottle Foster", purchased many of the Marlboro Street Glass Factory assets and moved to Stoddard, NH where he began a glass business in this small town which lasted over 31 years. Stoddard Glass FactoriesThe Foster Factories The small town of Stoddard, located in the hills of Southwestern NH, was the home to numerous glasshouses through the mid 19th century. Joseph Foster, a top glassblower at the Keene-Marlboro Street glassworks, had purchased many of the assets and begun his own operations in Stoddard. His first furnace was located in South Stoddard, and blew many bottles and flasks, some that had originated from the Keene factory molds, such as the Cornucopia/ Urn flasks and the Eagle/ Cornucopia flasks, Railroad flasks, as well as blacking bottles, whiskeys, inkwells, medicine/ utility bottles and many demijohns and jars. Although wood and sand were quite plentiful in Stoddard, adequate transportation of the bottles was difficult given the isolated proximity of the town to any railways. Closest shipping points were over 20 miles away. His first furnace burned, and was rebuilt at a different location, and the financial woes continued. Over the next eight years, Foster struggled to make ends meet, and eventually sold off his property and any operations. This would be the end of Joseph Foster's glass factory in NH, however, his children would play a role in the industry in later years.

Bottle Auction: SCARCE QT DOUBLE UNION HISTORICAL FLASK GREAT EMBOSSING

SCARCE QT DOUBLE UNION HISTORICAL FLASK GREAT EMBOSSING Bottle Auction Description: Here is a SCARCE DOUBLE UNION HISTORICAL FLASK. It is a QUART SIZE and is AQUA in COLOR. SAME EMBOSSING ON BOTH SIDES, BASICALLY. There may be a few little differences. ACTUALLY, it is G-XII 37 in McKEARIN'S BOOK and is LISTED AS RARE. You don't see them that often. The BASE is a little UNUSUAL FOR UNION FLASKS.There is aLITTLE BIT SHALLOW LARGE OVAL DEPRESSION on the BASE. The BASE is THINNER than NORMAL. The EMBOSSING is FAIRLY BOLD and I see HARDLY ANY HIGH POINT WEAR AT ALL. The word "UNION" is DIFFERENT than on OTHER UNIONS. The LETTERS are SOMEWHAT FANCY. The "O" is SQUARE with FANCY LITTLE POINTS ON IT. There is only a little faint haze inside if you hold it up to the light. There is an OPEN BUBBLE on the SHOULDER. There is a LARGE BUBBLE that PART OF IS OPEN. Kind of odd looking. That is the only issue that this early flask has. (see pic 9). It is a FAIRLY THICK FLASK. Possibly MIDWESTERN MADE, not certain, though. So BID WITH CONFIDENCE because: YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED!! CHECK OUT MY FEEDBACK and you will see that THERE IS NO RISK WITH ME!! I WILL DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THE TRANSACTION!!Fast delivery. Return privileges. I will COMBINE SHIPPING. Questions welcomed. GOOD LUCK!! < 812-907-0015

Some light wear/ chipping/ grinding on corners, occasional light scratching on body. No cracks. Some cloudiness and light staining, particularly on interior. EARLY AMBER WASHINGTON/JACKSON HISTORICAL FLASK OP NICE Bottle Auction Description: Here is a REAL NICE PINT SIZED WASHINGTON / JACKSON HISTORICAL FLASK. It has a KILLER OPEN PONTIL and a PERFECT SHEARED LIP. It is a PRETTY AMBER COLOR. The EMBOSSING IS PRETTY GOOD. It is in MINT CONDITION with the exception of some high point wear, mostly on the busts. The NECK has some NICE TWISTS IN IT. I think this flask dates to 1824-1826. Bottle Auction: Stoddard SARATOGA (STAR) SPRING Pint - Cross on Base

Stoddard SARATOGA (STAR) SPRING Pint - Cross on Base Bottle Auction Description: About 25 years ago, I stopped in to see Leon, an old-timer who had done some painting for me. I told him I was interested in old bottles. He slid a shopping bag towards me, across the floor. There were 5 of these bottles in the bag. His departed wife had been a collector. I sold a couple of them and kept the rest. So - this is a "pint" mineral water bottle, blown in Stoddard, NH in the 1860's. It was blown into a two piece mold, and it stands just over 7 1/2" tall. The base measures about 3" across, and has a large "X" or cross embossed. The embossing reads "SARATOGA - (image of star) - SPRING". The color is a beautiful Stoddard amber, not quite golden amber. The top is applied, with a double collar. The lower collar is lighter, with what looks to be a bubble extending around, fully contained, and there is a small drool of glass below the lower collar. The embossing is very bold - this bottle has never been touched. The glass is mildly whittled, quite seedy, and a pleasure to view. In the updated version of Bernard Puckhaber's book, the bottle is the first illustrated, and had a value, in 1993, of $200+. Above the embossing, and 1" from the vertical mold line, there is a star crack, with 5 radiations, barely visible, about 1/4" at the longest dimension, and possibly there since day one. You have to look quite closely to see it. Beautiful old bottle! Thank-you.
