Bottle Auction: RARE! FLINT GLASS CASE GIN/UTILITY - SUPER CRUDE - OPEN PONTIL - WHITTLE!

RARE! FLINT GLASS CASE GIN/UTILITY - SUPER CRUDE - OPEN PONTIL - WHITTLE! Bottle Auction Description: Up for auction is a very early case gin or possibly another type of flint glass utility. This bottle is in the classic form of a case gin and stands almost 11 1/2" with a very unusual and crude lip treatment with a small chip that can be seen in photo 5. The inside of the lip is very lightly ground giving it a beautiful frosted appearance as if a stopper would have been used in this bottle, but the way the lip is formed it is not clear if a stopper was every present. The entire bottle is sparkling clear flint glass that rings like a bell when touched on the thin sides. The upper portion of the bottle is smooth and heavy with specks of attractive slag that can also be found in other parts of this oval four paneled beauty. The base sports a very, very rough open pontil with a large amount of the iron still remaining with nice honest base wear from use over the years. I have owned this bottle for over 20+ years and it was purchased from a dealer in New Orleans. Other than the minor lip chip this bottle is gorgeous and without a doubt not a common bottle. The new owner will be so pleased to put this one on their shelf as it is a fantastic early piece of unusual flint glass. I have a VERY fair reserve on this one. As always, thanks for looking at my auctions. More to come and please check my Feedback.

Bottle Auction: Extremely Crude Western Bitters

Extremely Crude Western Bitters Bottle Auction Description: Here is a top example of this 1870s San Francisco Bitters. These are not a rare bottle, but for color, crudity, and condition, it is the finest I have ever seen. This flask type bitters is embossed " Yerba Buena Bitters , S.F. Cal." What makes this one special is the incredible whittle effect and spectacular drippy top. I have not seen another as crude in 40 years of collecting western glass. The color is a light yellow, with a touch of gold. There are swirls of bubbles and slag in the glass as well. The condition is mint, and it has never been cleaned. A gorgeous example of western glass! I will cover shipping in the continental US. Good Luck!

Bottle Auction: Top Example- Portland Oregon Colored Blob Soda

Top Example- Portland Oregon Colored Blob Soda Bottle Auction Description: These Cottle Post sodas are considered one of Oregon's most desirable bottles. Being a native Oregonian, I have seen a few of these, but none that compare in overall quality. This is the deeper teal coloration that everyone wants...also the glass is whittled and full of bubbles, which is very rare for this bottle. The bold embossing has ZERO wear, which is extremely rare for a Cottle. I have collected Oregon glass for decades, and I have never seen a more pristine example of a Cottle Post. This one has never been cleaned, and is gem mint. A fantastic colored soda! I will cover postage in the continental US. Good Luck!
