Bottle Auction: Rare Colored Western Blob Top Soda- Prussian/Steel Blue

Rare Colored Western Blob Top Soda- Prussian/Steel Blue Bottle Auction Description: Here is a very rare color for a relatively common western soda. This applied top soda is a steel/ prussian/ peacock blue rather than the more often seen cobalt or sapphire blue. I have only seen a couple of these in this color. Embossing reads " Owen Casey, Eagle Soda Works, Sac City". Condition is excellent for a dug soda. There is no casewear, chips, flashes, bruises, or cracks. There is some spotty light stain, and a few no feel micro scratches, but overall this is a beauty. It might benefit from a couple days in a tumbler as it has never been cleaned, but I have always liked it as it is. Buyer to pay $7.75 postage in the US only. Good Luck!

Bottle Auction: Sharp & Dohme POISON Bottle SKULL CROSSBONES Complete NEVER OPENED Coffin Shape

Sharp & Dohme POISON Bottle SKULL CROSSBONES Complete NEVER OPENED Coffin Shape Bottle Auction Description: Here's the one you've been waiting for. Up for auction is an awesome 4 1/2 inch tall amber poison bottle from Sharp & Dohme. The bottle is complete. It has the label, it has the cork, the cork has its label and the bottle appears to have not been opened. The tablets are secured with the original wad of cotton. These tablets are in the shaped of little coffins. One side of the tablet is marked POISON and the other side has the skull and crossbones. The only issues I can see are the minor scuffs on the front label and a wrinkle on the corks label. Bottle looks great. I NEVER TRIED TO OPEN THE BOTTLE. I did not want to risk damaging the cork. The label claims 100 tablets. I did not do a count. This is without a doubt an unbelievably cool bottle with contents. I don't know how often full bottles show up so act now. I WILL NOT END THE AUCTION EARLY so bid with confidence. Top bidder will win the prize. Low opening bid. No Reserve. See All Images Before Bidding. What you see is what you'll get. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks.......Mike.Pay me securely with any major credit card through PayPal! .On Oct-08-16 at 21:53:49 PDT, seller added the following information:I WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY THAT THIS BOTTLE WAS RE-MEASURED AND IT IS 4 5/8 INCHES TALL. THIS MEASUREMENT DOES NOT, DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CORK. THE BOTTLE IS A LITTLE TALLER THAN 4 1/2 INCHES.ALSO, IN THE TITLE I USE THE WORDS COFFIN SHAPE. THIS SHAPE REFERS TO THE TABLETS AND NOT THE BOTTLE. THE BOTTLE IS NOT COFFIN SHAPE ONLY THE CONTENTS ARE COFFIN SHAPE.THANK YOU.

Bottle Auction: CRUDE, EARLY ANTIQUE PRE-CIVIL WAR ERA "FREE BLOWN" OPEN PONTIL OPIUM VIALS

CRUDE, EARLY ANTIQUE PRE-CIVIL WAR ERA "FREE BLOWN" OPEN PONTIL OPIUM VIALS Bottle Auction Description: PRE-CIVIL WAR ERA OPEN PONTIL MEDICINE BOTTLE LOT You are bidding on a grouping of three pre-civil war era open pontil medicine bottles. The largest of the three is a crude, free blown piece standing 5-1/8" tall by 3" diameter. The other two pieces are blown in mold and range between 4-1/4" - 6" tall. All three date between 1840-1860 and are aqua in color. They are have crude, non-symmetrical features, various body types and lip configurations. Each of the three pieces have a sharp tubular open pontil in the center of the base and are un-embossed. During the Civil War, narcotics were handed out like candy by army surgeons, who were surrounded by suffering soldiers and had few remedies to offer other than painkillers. Nearly ten million opium pills were issued to Union soldiers, along with 2.8 million ounces of other opium preparations; no doubt opium use was fairly common on the Confederate side, too. One doctor reported keeping a wad of "blue mass" (a powdered mercury compound) in one pocket and a ball of opium in the other. He'd ask soldiers, "How are your bowels?" If the answer was "open" (due to diarrhea), the soldier got opium, if "closed" (presumably because of constipation), mercury. Opiates were used to treat not just wounds but chronic campaign diseases such as diarrhea, dysentery, and malaria. Narcotics became even more popular after the war as invalided veterans sought relief from constant pain. These three open pontil bottles are in excellent condition with no cracks, a single lip chip in the smallest of the three pieces otherwise fine. You will receive the exact three bottles shown in the auction if you are the successful bidder.Buyer pays $6.79 postage and packaging with prompt, secure shipping. As always, please review my feedback profile and bid with absolute confidence.          Keep your perspective. Remember you are just a custodian. Unless you're buried with them or break themsomeone else will own them a hundred years from now.

Bottle Auction: John Ryan Excelsior Mineral Water, Savannah, Ga. Iron Pontil, Top Shelf!

John Ryan Excelsior Mineral Water, Savannah, Ga. Iron Pontil, Top Shelf! Bottle Auction Description: We had been asked to consider listing a few of our better condition Southern sodas, and here is another that we pulled from our personal collection. This nice example is boldly embossed "JOHN RYAN, EXCELSIOR MINERAL WATER, SAVANNAH, GA." on the front, and UNION GLASS WORKS, PHILA, THIS BOTTLE IS NEVER SOLD" on the reverse. It is a somewhat different shade of cobalt blue and has a medium iron pontil mark.  This bottle was dug and cleaned by the late Tommy Mitchiner and has been in our collection for many years. There are no chips or cracks and we consider the glass to be superior. The only thing we will conservatively mention is a small rough pitted spot on the reverse base edge below the "S" in SOLD.  We have handled hundreds of John Ryan sodas in our 35 years of collecting, and 99% have been dug. Trust us when we say that this example is much nicer than those typically seen for sale.
