Bottle Auction: CRAZY crude early American chestnut bottle / flask! New England estate find!

CRAZY crude early American chestnut bottle / flask! New England estate find! Bottle Auction Description: If you want to treat yourself to something special this holiday season... well, here it is! Here is a fresh-to-market find from an estate in New Hampshire. This chestnut bottle was always referred to as the "Pitkin" bottle (Pitkin Glassworks, Hartford, CT), and it very well could be! This is an early American chestnut bottle, circa 1780-1810, and this one certainly has the look and feel of an 18th century example. Standing just a hair over 8" tall, this one is also quite plump... 5" wide and 4" thick! Nice bulbous form. This one is very special... as you can see, it has some very nice glass "character" with tons of swirls and bubbles throughout! Actually, I don't recall ever seeing one with this kind of distinct swirling action. It really looks wild! The color is a lighter yellow olive amber, nice and light, and the glass has good clarity. The base has a typical 18th century "chestnut" pontil mark, just a light ring, and heavy honest base wear. The mouth has a very pronounced round string lip, and it came with a cork. There is an early collector or museum label on the base, a number "29". Excellent condition throughout, especially given its 200+ year age! There are a few superficial scratches, but no damage or issues whatsoever... a truly fine specimen! This is true Glass Americana that could actually date back to the Colonial era!!A great EARLY New England chestnut bottle! Fresh to the market, and fine condition!! Buyer pays shipping. 7 day return policy if not as described. Please check out our other listingsGOOD LUCK!

Bottle Auction: M. KOM'S Superior Mineral Water GREAT WESTERN Iron Pontiled Soda Bottle

M. KOM'S Superior Mineral Water GREAT WESTERN Iron Pontiled Soda Bottle Bottle Auction Description: For your consideration is an extremely rare M. Kom's Superior Mineral Water Great Western. One of two known and this example has most of the iron remaining. An outstanding sharp tapered top with alot of drip on the neck from when it was applied. No chips or cracks and has never been cleaned. This example and the only other known were both found in Wisconsin. This one in Ashippun and the other in Racine. Possibly one of the earliest Milwaukee or Chicago sodas? Hard to say for certain but just a super bottle and having the Great Western reference adds even more. This example was featured in the current Antique Bottle & Glass magazine this month. I put a reserve on it and if doesn't meet it that's ok too. I'm only even offering this as I have something to tend to. One you may not see again and appeals to many areas of bottle collecting. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for viewing and have a wonderful holiday season!

Bottle Auction: Antique c. Civil War BATTELL & TAYLOR B & T BLOB TOP TEAL SODA Dug BOTTLE Rare ?

Antique c. Civil War BATTELL & TAYLOR B & T BLOB TOP TEAL SODA Dug BOTTLE Rare ? Bottle Auction Description: I will be listing a variety of nice Antique and Vintage Items this week. Here is an ANTIQUE c.1860's "B. & T." TEAL BLUE BLOB-TOP SODA OR BEER TYPE BOTTLE. Quick research seems to identify this bottle as a BATTELL & TAYLOR Bottle from New York City. Bottle is 7-5/16" tall. Looks to have been a dug bottle having some Tiffany-like irridescence color on some of the surfaces and a lot of wear on outside of bottle. No cracks and good top rim. Don't know if it is a scarce bottle or not- I could only find one other example of this bottle in my research online. INSURANCE INCLUDED in the shipping total. Look for my other nice Old Items I am listing as well. See listing for payment and shipping details. Feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks for looking!

Bottle Auction: Pontil citron colored scroll flask...rare color and pattern

Pontil citron colored scroll flask...rare color and pattern Bottle Auction Description: Here's an unusual flask. I sold it previously for good money but buyer didn't like it as it had too much content stain, and it was a dug example. I have had it cleaned somewhat on the inside but nothing was done on the exterior. If someone is looking for an attic mint example, this is not for you. It looks good as is but would benefit from a professional cleaning. There are no chips cracks, scratches etc. And no repairs. It is a pint flask, and the pics show it's true color. I have it pictured along side an aqua bottle for comparison. Offered without reserve. I have not seen this color or pattern before. Shipping is $15 by USPS.

Bottle Auction: Awesome - "HOSTETTER'S BITTERS" - Light Yellow/Green!

Awesome - "HOSTETTER'S BITTERS" - Light Yellow/Green! Bottle Auction Description: Awesome - "HOSTETTER'S BITTERS" - Light Yellow/Green! Lets try this again. We previously ended this auction due to overwhelming responses and multiple questions about color and condition. We felt the description could have been better and the first picture in the auction we ended last week was not as accurate colorwise as it could have been. However all the others were real close. This time I've placed it next to a straight amber bottle for color comparison. We know color & condition is everything on these so this time there will be more details about both. Please, no more offers to buy outright as we will not be ending this auction. You are bidding on the greenish L&W Hostetter only, the other bottles are amber and for shade comparison only. The beautiful light yellow green in this bottle is just totally awesome and it's one of the nicest Hostetter's we've seen in both color and condition. Embossing reads; "DR. J. HOSTETTER'S / STOMACH BITTERS" on one of the four sides. Hand blown into a two part mold in a stunning highly transparent, light yellow green colored glass with good clarity, circa 1870s. I tried to photograph in different light situations for color accuracy and believe the shade is a 50/50 mix of both yellow & green. There's hundreds of bubbles scattered through out the glass adding to the beauty of this exceptional piece. None of the bubbles are open or fractured. The surface has very nice texture and the panels are sunken inward in a few spots giving it some good character. This does not appear to be a dug bottle and it's a totally original, attic quality, non polished/tumbled gem that just shimmers in daylight. Has an applied top and the base markings " L&W / 1". This is a gorgeous un-scathed example with NO chips, cracks, nicks, scratches, stain, wear or repairs.A great display bottle, just awesome color, crudity & condition on this one! I'll guarantee the winning bidder will love this killer bottle. NO RESERVE ! Buyer pays $11.85 Postal Service Priority Mail shipping, Packaging, Tracking in the U.S. Insurance optional, buyer assumes all shipping liability for uninsured items. Payment to be made within 7 days of the auction closeing please. However if you need longer, extended payment time may be arranged prior to the auction ending. Payments other than PayPal gladly accepted if you choose. CLICK HERE TO GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT: "OLDWESTBOTTLES.COM" We offer only quality 19th century antique bottles in all categories and price ranges. Bottle Auction: Stoddard 1/2 pint horseshoe flask! Applied sloping collar.

Stoddard 1/2 pint horseshoe flask! Applied sloping collar. Bottle Auction Description: Here is a real nice 1/2 pint horseshoe flask with an applied sloping collared top! It looks very much like a Stoddard example, but with a seam across the base. It has wonderful New England character, and is similar to the form of the 1/2 pint Stoddard Flag flask (pictured). The color is a yellowish olive amber, and there are plenty of small seed bubbles. I would venture to call the condition excellent, however, there is a manufacturer's flaw, a chip on the neck that occurred before the applied lip. It is on the side and isn't a problem visually. The flask is damage-free, and quite attractive and desirable! A scarce little 1/2 pint seam-sided civil war era flask with an applied sloping collared top! Buyer pays shipping. 7 day return policy if not as described. Please check out our other listingsGOOD LUCK!

Bottle Auction: Amber hutchinson soda bottle hutch Ginger beer L. Werrbach Milwaukee Wis blob

Amber hutchinson soda bottle hutch Ginger beer L. Werrbach Milwaukee Wis blob Bottle Auction Description: Okay. Let me start by saying that this is the same bottle that I listed with a reserve last week. It did not sell. I admit it now, it was a mistake. Thank you all for bidding on the auction and for your patience. This time it sells. This is a no reserve auction. Thank you again and good luck. Winning bidder gets an amazing amber Hutchinson soda bottle from the L. Werrbach company out of Milwaukee Wisconsin WI.The amber soda is front embossed PURE GINGER BEER arched across the front shoulder then L. WERRBACH (also arched) below and finally MILWAUKEE written in straight lettering. The reverse reads THIS BOTTLE / NOT TO BE SOLD in two lines. The bottom has a large L.W. The hutch is amber in color on the lighter side. Maybe a honey amber? The base has six-sides or facets (which is commonly referred to as a mug base). It stands 7 & 1/4 inches tall about 2 & 3/4 inches wide. This is an original authentic vintage artifact from a bygone era. The ginger beer was a type of 'small' beer. These were often soda type flavors that were mildly fermented. That explains the mix of the amber glass (typically seen on beers) and the soda bottle (Hutchinson) style, shape, and form. Any colored Hutchinson soda is hard to come by and this bottle is no exception. It is considered 'rare' in relative rarity by Roger Peters in his comprehensive collector's guide Wisconsin Soda Water Bottles (1996). CONDITION:I purchased this bottle years ago and I was very excited to get one of my first colored soda water bottles. When I bought it, it had already been professionally tumbled. I would never have done it myself, but that is the way it was when I acquired it. The tumble makes the bottle very clean and stainless. However, it is not mint. It has typical wear that you would see on returnable bottles from this era. Specifically, there is a heavy scuff or scratch on the back side angling from left to right that looks like an exclamation point. It has a line about an inch long with a point of scuff below. There is high point wear on some of the letters that looks like small bites on the embossing. There are some small scuffs above the M in MILWAUKEE. There are other smaller scratches or scuffs which have been tumbled smooth but are still visible in light. There was likely a ring of wear above the mug base, which as noted has been smoothed out. One vertical facet at the base has two or three small chips. There are a few other little bites or bruise marks. All of this is listed to be as accurate as possible. Please see my pictures for better detail and feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns. Please check out my other listings. I have some other cool bottles from Wisconsin.

Bottle Auction: Rare ca. 1845-47 stoneware root beer bottle, Dr. J A Brown Baltimore, blue blob!

Rare ca. 1845-47 stoneware root beer bottle, Dr. J A Brown Baltimore, blue blob! Bottle Auction Description: Up for offers now with NO reserves and a low starting bid, is another of several antique, blob, or stoneware soda and beer bottles we are posting this week. This auction is for one bottle only. The other bottles shown in the group color and size comparison photos, are currently being listed in separate eBay auctions. This auction is for the 9 & 7/8" tall, heavy stoneware beer, soda, or "root beer" bottle, that is impressed above the shoulder ridge " DR (the 'R' being raised and smaller) J. A. BROWN ". This example has an exceptionally large blob lip that is has been dipped in cobalt blue glaze before the final firing in the kiln, and also has a large drip of cobalt blue glaze on the rear shoulder, which was probably an intentional marking, having significance to someone "back in the day". Doctor Brown operated a small root beer manufacturing and bottling operation at 22 Light Street, near the harbor in Baltimore, Maryland in the mid 1840's. By 1847 Dr. Brown disappears from the Baltimore City Directories, and has moved his operation to New York City, and William Russell has moved into the 22 Light Street address to operate his early beverage bottling ventures, for the next decade or so prior to the Civil War between the States. The base of this bottle has two deeply incised parallel lines, which also had some significance back in the day. The incised lines are significant to modern day bottle collectors and researchers, in that they are a reliable way to distinguish the stoneware bottles that Dr. Brown used in Baltimore, from the more abundant ones he used later in New York. It is interesting to note that William Russell continued to use the two incised parallel lines on the bottlom of some of his earliest stoneware bottles for some reason, before later abandoning the practice. This bottle was excavated from a large oval bricklined privy in East Baltimore in the 1990's, just a few blocks from the location of Parr's Maryland Pottery works, which is known from excavations at the site, to have been a source of the exceptionally large blobed stoneware bottles in the mid 1840's. This bottle is in very nice condition, having only a shallow 1/8" chip on the top of the lip, and shallow 3/8" chip on the base heel that have been filled in to make them smooth, and no other concerns. Also having a nice speckled brown color, and hi gloss glaze which can also be an identifiable attribute of bottles produced at Parr's Maryland Pottery Works prior to the Civil War.Please see my other current Ebay auctions for more antique bottles, excavated relics, and neat old stuff. Payment for these auctions should be received by me within 6 days of auction closing please. I accept Paypal and possibly other forms of payment per your requests and Ebay policies. If you win multiple auctions I will gladly and carefully combine the items into one package to reduce the shipping costs. Shipping costs will vary depending upon your location, and are based on Ebay's online shipping calculators for US Priority Mail, and estimated package weight. Due to the fragile nature of these items and Ebay's policies, a $2.50 handling charge is automatically added by Ebay to the calculated shipping cost, and, this handling charge is used to insure all shipments by either the US Postal Service or other means. We use this method so that all packages are insured, and that you know the actual shipping costs to your location as you place your bids. Have some fun with these NO RESERVE auctions, and good luck!Thank you. search words ; pontil pontiled antebellum pottery ceramic blue and grey
