We are "Your Quality Zone" - search "YQZ" to see our other listings our Click Here! _______________________________________________________________________ >>>>> UP IN THIS AUCTION <<<<< Late 1800's Chemist Pharmacy Dental Carbolic Toothpaste Antique Pot Lid &Jar Very Nice Ceramic Pot Lid - Great Transferware Design! - DESCRIPTION -Please be patient there are 12 more photos to be loaded in this auction. In this auction, we have an original, late 1800's, black transferware pot lid with matching jar. The lid reads "Carbolic Tooth Paste." It was used by local druggists, chemists or dentist-surgeons who often sold their own dental products such as tooth powder, toothache medicines and tinctures for gum disease. This was common practice among the most respected practitioners of the 18th and early 19th century. The jar measures approximately 1.75 x 2.75 x 2.75". There is toning, crazing, rubbing and slight schip inside the lid and jar. But the transferware on the lid remains in great condition. Please see all of our photos. This is a great item for the antique pot lid collector! Happy Bidding! Found this interesting information from oralhealthgroup website (GREAT site!) Pot lids are the covers or tops of small pottery containers that first appeared in England around 1840 when town and cities were expanding rapidly. Retailers produced a larger number of household commodities for domestic use or consumption such as bear's grease, toothpaste, cold cream, salves and ointments or cure-alls, edible pastes and shaving cream were packed in earthenware pots with advertising printed on the lids. The pot and lid were eventually consigned to the dustbin and then off to the local dump. The lids were frequently decorated by transfer-printing to describe the contents. Prior to the invention of the transfer-printing process, the brand names of manufactured goods were hand-lettered onto the side of the pot or described by means of a paper label pasted on the lid. Transfer-printing process introduced a much quicker and economical method of describing the contents. Although still laborious by today's standards, this labeling method also allowed for a greater degree of artistic expression and enticed buyers by the aesthetic appeal of the package. This process was distinctively English. It originated in Liverpool in the second half of the eighteenth century. Although not in general use for packaging until the 1840s, transfer printing was used for domestic porcelain and pottery in the intervening period.Orders for transfer-decorated pots made by Staffordshire potters were received from many countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Italy and India.Estimated shipping weight, (packaged) is 2 lbs 8 oz in a 6 x 7 x 7 ************What a great find!KEEP SCROLLING THERE ARE 11 MORE PHOTOS. TERMS OF SERVICE EBAY is ALL we do for a living, husband and wife (Norb & Marie) working together, while we home school our kids on our farmette in Rural Delmarva. We have worked very hard to build our little business and it is very important to us. We try and do business the old fashioned way and have a rather simple outlook. Treat all of your customers as if they are family. Be courteous, answer emails, be fair in all your deallings and try and make friends of each and every customer. BUT... with eBay's new star rating and the rate increases in the U.S. Postal rates we needed to define and explain our methods of business. ONE - Who We Deal With We sell and ship world wide to anywhere, so please email us for a quote to wherever you happen to be. TWO - Shipping Charges We charge shipping based on the USPS system, we will sometimes ship via courier if we can get it to you within the same time frame or faster. We add a reasonable cost for materials, normally that is $2.00 for regular sized packages. For small flat items $1.00. That covers the expense of boxes, envelopes, bubble wrap, peanuts, (We only use new packing materials, life is too short to scrounge through dumpsters). For larger items that take a larger more expensive box, we charge a little more, to cover the special box, example paintings or lamps. For oversized items or items that will take special attention to package, (Build a crate, wrap a zillion things individually, etc.), we ask you to email us for a quote on shipping prior to the auction ending. If you do not, we charge the same amount as if you did. In other words WE NEVER GOUGE OUR CLIENTS SHIPPING COSTS!! THREE - International Shipping We charge shipping based on the USPS international system. The rates follow the same guidelines as number two above, though for international customers we add an additional $1.00 to cover the extra paperwork involved in international shipping. If an amount goes over $50 in value we will only ship it with Priority or Express Mail, regardless how small an item. That allows for us to have international tracking. There is no tracking available on First Class Mail. FOUR - Insurance eBay's policies no longer allows us to charge the client for insurance. But... we still apply insurance to any item that goes over $27.00 in value. We reserve the right to use the insurance carrier of our choice. Sometimes that is Postal or the Carrier's Insurance and sometimes that is a private insurance company such as DSI or U-PIC/Shipsurance. If we use a private insurance company the package will not be marked insured, but it will be. FIVE - Methods of Payment Accepted We abide by eBay's rules and try and stay abreast of their changes. We accept Paypal. Paypal also accepts the major credit cards, or we also take Credit Cards Directly over the phone, (MC, VISA, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS, CARTE BLANCHE, DINERS CLUB, JCB) Bottom line, whatever method is most convenient for you. SIX - Time Frame To Pay We ask all auctions to be paid for in the fastest possible time frame. (This is all we do for a living and we need the money to pay the bills and buy more unique and fun items to put up on eBay) SEVEN - Shipping Time Frame We make every effort to ship in a timely manner. We are home schooling the boys, listing tons of items, and as like any of us are just plain swamped, so we have to schedule a special time to pack and ship. We ship on a first paid, first shipped basis. (We do not ship any item until it has been paid and the funds have cleared.) With the ebb and flow of payments we manage to get everything out of the door within one week. If there is a rush, we will make every effort to work with you in getting it out of the door faster. As you can see from our feedback, we do not disappoint. OF COURSE, items that need special attention, crating, etc adds to the time frame of those items. EIGHT - Local Pickup Sometimes it makes sense to come by and pickup your items. Sometimes an item is just too big for any other option. If you've arranged local pickup with us, you must pickup the item within 30 days otherwise it will be subject to storage fees or relisting. Finally, NINE - Communication Please feel free to contact us at anytime, with any question or comment. Unless we are out of town we make an effort to answer all emails as quickly as possible.

Bottle Auction: Beautiful Keene Sunburst Half Pint

Beautiful Keene Sunburst Half Pint Bottle Auction Description: Fresh from a 1950s early glass collection, this little half pint has been boxed up for over 50 years. This 6 1/4" tall Sunburst has a sheared top, and pontiled base. The golden/olive colored flask is pebbly, and crude with a strong mold impression. There is a 2X match head inside lip bruise, and a strange finish to the base. It appears to have been ground at the glass factory in order to sit level. I am confident the original collectors would not have done this but am open to comments. This base treatment appears to be original to the piece. Overall a pretty little flask and a super early piece of American glass making. Buyer to pay $ 9.85 postage in the continental US. Good Luck!On Nov-23-14 at 15:02:46 PST, seller added the following information: Clarification on the glass house which made this flask. Coventry, Connecticut. On Nov-26-14 at 05:29:04 PST, seller added the following information: I have added a photo of the small inside lip bruise.

Bottle Auction: ANTIQUE 1800'S OPEN PONTIL BULL'S SARSAPARILLA HARTFORD MEDICINE CURE BOTTLE OP

ANTIQUE 1800'S OPEN PONTIL BULL'S SARSAPARILLA HARTFORD MEDICINE CURE BOTTLE OP Bottle Auction Description: Hello and I appreciate your time. Thanks for looking at my auction. I will be selling an Embossed Pontiled Medicine Collection. Also, see my other Vintage and Antique Items---I will be happy to combine shipping. U.S. shipping is $6.49. I usually ship about once per week---give or take a day or two, but most of the time, sooner. I pack well and attempt to pack just like it was coming to me. Please read descriptions, see pictures and ask questions before bidding. I will describe this item to the best of my ability and knowledge. This auction is final as is. Now for the Good Part---This is an Original Authentic Antique Pontiled or Open Pontil Medicine Bottle. I would date this bottle to the 1840's to 1850's or Pre-Civil War. This bottle has been in a collection for many years. It was dug in a New Orleans, Louisiana Privy. It was lightly tumbled. This bottle features some Crude Characteristics. It stands a little shy of 7 inches tall with a Very Odd Crude Drippy Applied Ring Lip. The mouth of this bottle has an Extra Large Opening with an Extra Long Neck. It also has a wrap around Swirled Smokey Striations toward bottom within glass. It has an Open Pontil base. It is Rectangular in Shape but has Large Champhered Panels, and I would consider it 8 sided. It is Embossed in 4 lines with Crude Embossing on Front Panel and the 2 Angled Front Panels. It reads: I. D. BULL'S on side and EXT. OF /// SARSAPARILLA in center and HARTFORD, CON. on other side. The condition is Great, in my opinion. It has Wonderful Crude Whittle. No chips, No cracks and No repairs. It has good shine and is Clean. It has some tiny light spots of superficial wear. Don't miss this one for your Early Medicine or Cure Bottle Collection. Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Bottle Auction: SCARCE SIZE BIMAL COBALT BLUE 3-SIDED OWL DRUG CO. ONE WING 5 1/8" POISON BOTTLE

SCARCE SIZE BIMAL COBALT BLUE 3-SIDED OWL DRUG CO. ONE WING 5 1/8" POISON BOTTLE Bottle Auction Description: Up for bid is this hard to find size cobalt blue 3- sided THE OWL DRUG CO. Poison bottle. This bottle is 5 1/8 inches tall, has a tooled applied lip and is a nice rich cobalt blue in color. The front panel has the slug plate with a 1 wing owl perched on a mortar & pestle. POISON is embossed in large letters on the 2nd side. THE OWL DRUG Co. is embossed on the third side. This dug bottle is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or dings, it does have inner and outer stain and etching from being in the ground. As shown in the pictures. Some people like this patina from being in the ground, others do not but I tried to take the best pictures of it as possible. Also there is a piece of slag glass on the inside of the applied lip, this is residue from the making of the applied lip. A tumbling or cleaning would resolve most of these issues and bring it to near mint condition. I mention and show everything for accuracy. This hard to find size to fill in the Owl Drug bottle set or series can display well and make an excellent addition to anyone's cobalt OWL DRUG CO. poison bottle collection. E-Mail me with any questions before you bid. PLEASE DO NOT USE CHECK-OUT, I will contact the winning bidder to determine shipping cost and final total. Due to E-bay polices, I accept Paypal and can discuss other forms of payment after winning this listing. Will use USPS Priority mail for shipping, unless other shipping methods are discussed. Per new E-bay rules, Insurance can be included and will be in final invoice handling fee, upon request. Please see SELLERS OTHER LISTINGS for other great items. Winner to contact seller within three days of auctions end and payment must be received within ten days. After ten days, item can be relisted. Will ship Item within two days of receipt of payment.
