Bottle Auction: 1860s DR. HAIR'S SARSAPARILLA LARGE AQUA BOTTLE OPEN PONTIL PROB. CINCINNATI VG

1860s DR. HAIR'S SARSAPARILLA LARGE AQUA BOTTLE OPEN PONTIL PROB. CINCINNATI VG Bottle Auction Description: ANTIQUE LARGE AQUA SARSAPARILLA MEDICINE BOTTLE BY DR. B.W. HAIR WITH HAND BLOWN OPEN PONTIL The bottle measures about 9 3/4" high and is about 3" wide at the base. 8 sided. The seam stops at top of shoulder. One panel says "Dr. B.W. Hair's" and the adjacent panel says "Sarsaparilla" in large letters. Found in southwest Ohio near Cincinnati. I'm guessing the age is the 1860s. In VG+ condition with NO cracks or chips. Has only the lightest frosting in spots with a slight amount of iridescence in spots. No heavy stains or soiling. Several bubbles. The neck was blown slightly slanted. Will be shipped double boxed. (see all 12 pictures)According to one source there was a Dr. Benjamin W. Hair born in 1819 who graduated from the Cincinnati Medical College in 1845 and was a doctor in the 100th U.S. Infantry during the Civil War. Later, he marketed a "Dr. B.W. Hair's Asthma Cure" in the 1880s in Hamilton Ohio about 15 miles from Cincinnati. But this bottle looks much older than the 1880s so I'm guessing he decided to market his brand of Sarsaparilla as a blood purifier by hiring a bottle maker in the 1860s after the Civil War was over. (see all 12 pictures)

Bottle Auction: Yellow-Olive Iron Pontil, Carters Spanish Mixture.

Yellow-Olive Iron Pontil, Carters Spanish Mixture. Bottle Auction Description: Up for bids here with no reserve is this 8" tall, CARTERS SPANISH MIXTURE with an Iron Pontil, and A crude Applied Lip. I consider the color a rich yellow olive. I had a cloudy day for pictures, but I think they are pretty accurate. The Base has about a 1/4" band of iron remaining. Nice clean bottle over-all. There is a wear line around the back shoulder, but no stain, open bubbles or scratches. The embossing is bold, and the color really pops. I took a couple pictures off the lip to show the condition well. There is some flat sliver chipping on the top surface. It really does'nt show from the side. There is also one flake under the lower bevel, {also in a picture} and a shallow 1/8" flake on the outside top of the lip to mention. There is one intact bubble near the top of the lip that also shows. I think my pictures depict its condition accurately. Any questions welcome. If you need more pictures please ask. All of my auctions are as described and pictured, or your money back. Even with the lip issues, This is an Awesome Bottle, in a better then average color. No Reserve. Good luck if you bid.

Bottle Auction: Antique vintage oxygenated bitters bottle

Antique vintage oxygenated bitters bottle Bottle Auction Description: Oxygenated bitters pontil. Light teal green almost mint condition. Very crude and wavy applied tapered lip. It is a rare bottle with this kind of looks. Lots of bubbles. I tried to take pictures to show the wavy Whittle of the bottle. Looks like the bottle was hand carved. Check all pictures closely to see what I'm talking about. I highlighted in the back of the bottle a circle it's like it has a big blob bubble inside of the glass or blob. You can feel the bump it is really neat if it was a dark bottle you would see all the imperfections. it's hard to see with the light I hope you can discover it like I just did. Pictures will justify how rare this bottle is.

Bottle Auction: Tombstone shaped "DR. POLAND" medicine bottle!

Tombstone shaped "DR. POLAND" medicine bottle! Bottle Auction Description: Here is a pretty rare New Hampshire medicine bottle, probably dates to around 1866-1870, and I would say it is from the Lyndeborough Glass Company (LGCO). Embossed "DR. POLAND" in a recessed arched indented panel! This bottle is made from the exact same mold as the famed Stoddard Poland bottles that bring upwards of $5000. Although these aqua version bring much less, they are equally as rare as the amber examples. You don't much old primitive glass from Lyndeborough, so I am guessing this piece is very early production, likely a collaboration of the South Stoddard works to fulfill an "aqua" order for the customer, Doc Poland! The glass has bubbles and twists... nice character. No pontil, but an applied rounded collared top. I have had this example for quite some time. There is a touch of edge roughness on the lower collar, otherwise fantastic condition. This nice early DR POLAND tombstone shaped bottle is guaranteed authentic!A RARE tombstone-shaped medicine bottle embossed "DR. POLAND"! Buyer pays shipping. 7 day return policy if not as described. Please check out our other listingsGOOD LUCK!

Bottle Auction: VAUGHN'S VEGETABLE LITHONTRIPTIC MIXTURE BUFFALO 1850-1865 NM VERY NICE COLOR!!!

VAUGHN'S VEGETABLE LITHONTRIPTIC MIXTURE BUFFALO 1850-1865 NM VERY NICE COLOR!!! Bottle Auction Description: Here we have a super sharp early classical American Medicine Bottle. It's a 1850 -1860 VAUGH'S, in a GREAT COLOR. EMBOSSED ON (3) PANELS - "VAUGHN'S" one panel, "VEGETABLE / LITHONTRIPTIC / MIXTURE" second panel, "BUFFALO" third panel, the last panel has no embossing was used for paper label. SUPER COLOR DEEP TEAL, which I put a aqua medicine beside it so you can see the color comparison, Clean in and out doesn't appear to be a dug bottle, does have a very little spider see pic (Shows in 1st pic and another too . besides this super shape bottle, 8" tall by 3 1/4" wide. Large applied top, smooth base should be pontiled, SUPER CRUDE, VERY ATTRACTIVE. A BIG PLUS IN ANY BODYS COLLECTION. I took all the pics. in nature light, this is the TRUE COLOR of this bottle I have not alter the pictures at all, NICE DEEP TEAL SUPER COLOR, and the 1st pic shows the spider on the lower corner of bottle not bad at all, very small and on the plain panel upper part of bottle is a open bubble, which is also shown in pic. I don't like surprises when buying bottles, so I do the best possible job describing them. This bottle is really in good shape even with the small issues. I have never seen one this dark. The ones that was close the dealers were asking upward to $1500, or more for real. On record I found a smooth base Rich teal sold for $4,200 05/04, another Deep Blue teal $7280 smooth base 03/05,These was listed in auction price results If you like crude colored medicines you dont want to let this one get away.
