Bottle Auction: Nice Early To Mid 1700's Dutch Onion/Mallet Bottle

Nice Early To Mid 1700's Dutch Onion/Mallet Bottle Bottle Auction Description: Yes... We're back after another very, very long hiatus from eBay & because we are preparing for a big move, we'll be offering a virtual cornucopia of great pieces over the next several months, many of which have been stashed away in our warehouse for years!!! In addition, most items will be listed with little or no 'Reserve'...So, don't be shy to bid just because we don't have many 'new' feedback ratings. Our 'old' feedback is proof enough of who you're dealing with.First things first... We would like to apologize to ALL bidders that were interested in this bottle the first time we listed it... Fortunately, for all involved in the last Auction, another highly experienced eBay seller came forward & made us take immediate notice of an error within our original listing, of BOTH the 'Title' & 'Description', BEFORE it was too late !!! Our staff member that 'scripts' listings made an honest mistake in the prior listing, by assuming that this specific bottle was 'English' in origin, when in reality it is 'Dutch' in origin...And to those of you that bid on the prior Auction, we would like to offer our sincerest apologizes, for any inconvenience we may have caused... Take note, that because of this error on our part, we have made this 'Re-Listed' Auction much shorter. So please feel free to submit bids again, if still interested. For the serious collector of very 'Early' Antique Bottles and/or Maritime & Nautical related antiques ... Offered for your bidding consideration is... A Wonderful Early to Mid 1700's, Dutch "Onion/Mallet" Bottle... An authentic Antique piece of Pirate Lore!!! The "Real Deal"... This very specific type or style of bottle was in common everyday use, for the transportation & storage of wine or rum throughout Europe & the Caribbean, during the days when Pirates plundered the high seas!!! This bottle, along with several others we still have within our inventory, was salvaged by sport divers from deep fresh water pits, scattered on several different islands throughout the West Indies!!! Hence it's near flawless condition because of no salt water emersion...!!!The bottle itself is a round sided example of an "onion" or "mallet" bottle, having a nice neck with a well defined applied "string ring" top 'lip' to it. There's a physically sharp edged blow pipe pontil within the "kick-up"... Lots of "bubbles" in the glass itself with rich olive green coloration & excellent transparency throughout... Very few surface scratches, wear lines or base wear... None of which are disfiguring!!! Typically these bottles were recycled, many times over, yet this one was definitely "tossed" very early in it's life!!! No visible stains, cracks, flecking, or chips... In near flawless condition, showing normal age & little wear for it's vintage. NOTE: SEE PICTURES... The bottle measures approx. 7 & 1/2 inches overall height, neck is 4 & 1/4 inches & base diameter is approx. 5 & 1/4 inches at it's widest point. TO ALL POTENTIAL BIDDERS THAT ARE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.!!!... We will only ship this item using International "Express" Mail, for the purposes of 'Tracking' & 'Insurance'!!! In addition, import duties, taxes, and Customs charges are NOT INCLUDED in the item's final sale price or shipping charges!!! These ADDITIONAL monetary charges that are 'over & above' your International "Express" Mail Shipping charges... Will be your responsibilty, NOT OURS!!!You Can Bid With Complete Confidence... Our Guarantee Of AuthenticityWe Are Professional Level, Worldwide Brokers & Purveyors Of Fine Period Antiquities, Specializing In Maritime, Militaria & Nautical Items. This is not a hobby for us... It is a full time business, catering to the serious collector, on a personal & "private" level... Yet occasionally we decide to post, here on eBay, a few pieces from our massive inventory or our own individual collections. Our firm strives to offer only the very rare and/or the very finest Antiquities & Collectibles, for your acquisition... Never reproductions or "fakes"... However, even with well over 20 years experience, we still make an occasional mistake. If so, please contact our office promptly upon receipt of the piece, with any "professional level proof" that the item was "misrepresented" by us and we will do everything within our power to insure you a prompt refund, to include any and/or all shipping costs.AND... AS ALWAYS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT US AT ANY TIME DURING THE AUCTION IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST & GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BIDDING!!! Many of the sodas from this collection were upgraded several times over the years and in some of the best condition, this beauty is definitely no exception. Hand blown into a two part mould in a deep emerald green colored glass, circa 1850. It has an applied blob top and a open pontil base. Original NON polished/tumbled as found attic like condition. This is an incredibly nice clean example in a good strong color unlike others I've seen that were much lighter. Not only is the color really nice but the condition is superb with 0 wear, pings or letter nicks that are so often associated with soda bottles. There are NO chips, cracks, nicks, stain, open bubbles, pings, wear or repairs. For complete accuracy I note a small light scratch on the side. I can't stress enough about the nice color and condition of this bottle. The winning bidder will be quite pleased with this one. Our auctions are real auctions with quality items starting for nothing and never a reserve. Have fun this is a killer flask! NO RESERVE ! Bottle Auction: OLD CABIN BITTERS bottle ( No Kellys on bottle ) L chip

OLD CABIN BITTERS bottle ( No Kellys on bottle ) L chip Bottle Auction Description: The item up for bid is an amber Colored OLD CABIN BITTERS bottle ( No KELLY'S on bottle ) My understanding is that this bottle predates the KELLY'S OLD CABIN BITTERS version. This bottle was made for less than 1 year, possibly only for a few months in 1863. This compared to the KELLY"s which was made from 1863 into the early 1870's. I have been told there are 15 KELLYS for each one of these out there?? ( maybe, don't know for sure? )The bottle has a large lip chip ( see pictures ) the bottle was mint until the early 1970's when it was dropped on its lip !!! OUCH. Other than the lip chip the bottle has NO OTHER DAMAGE any where. The bottle has been looked at hard by several Collectors in my area and all agree there are NO cracks, flashes, stain, haze, pings or dings or chips other than the one on the lip. The bottle has never been in the ground and was found in an old tavern wall outside of St Louis, MS. There are NO small cracks coming off the lip chips !! BID with confidence that the lip chip you see is the only problem with this bottle. MONEY BACK GUARANTEE if not as described. All the pictures but one were taken outside in natural sunlight.I think the pictures cover the extent of the Lip Chip pretty well. The bottle is very crude with misshaped front and back panels that are sunken and curvy. VERY CRUDE BOTTLE .This bottle should be a good candidate for a Repair if you have the time to send it off. Would rate a 10 if repair was a good one. Thanks for looking and I will cover the costs of insuring the bottle if it sells. On Mar-09-11 at 19:39:10 PST, seller added the following information:Correction on where the bottle was found. It was found near St. Louis, MO

Bottle Auction: EARLY ENGLISH BLOWN GREEN GLASS LAVENDER BOTTLE 1650

EARLY ENGLISH BLOWN GREEN GLASS LAVENDER BOTTLE 1650 Bottle Auction Description: rhusrluk rhusrluk Antique pottery in good taste - harmic.little An exciting and very rare English free-blown glass bottle or apothecary phial of small size and of stunning aquamarine tint; the body rectangular in shape with slightly everted sides; with roughly parallel-sided short neck and flared rim; the bottom of one side with an old applied label inscribed in ink "LAVENDER BOTTLE / C. 1680 / FLEET ST. / 22/2/37; probably of London manufacture, circa 1650 - 1700.  I'd say this is one of the nicest, most beautiful, most intriguing and rarest pieces of free blown English glass we have ever offered on eBay and it will interest glass collectors generally as well as collectors and dealers interested in early pharmaceutical items.  The glass or phial is pretty much square in section, with very slightly everted sides, and rectangular in terms of its overall dimensions. It is approximately 4 1/2 inches tall and the base is approximately 1 1/8 inches square.   It is beautifully free-blown and is composed of beautifully swirled or striated aquamarine tinted glass (see the detailed photographs below). The base has a moderate 'kick-up' and sharp open pontil. The bottle is gathered in at the neck although it flares out again at the extreme rim. This flared shape suggests it may have had a globular glass stopper.  The glass is slightly iridescent although the surface has not been damaged to any significant degree. Lavender oil (from the latin lavare-to wash) was widely used by apothecaries in the seventeenth century as a cure-all for headache, nervous complaints, insect stings, mad dog bites and snakes. However, it was thought particularly efficacious as a guard against the spread of infection (the stem and leaves of the plant were also used to this end, as well as the oil). Glove makers in the seventeenth century scented the leather they used to make the gloves with lavender oil to help the wearer to ward off the plague. Interestingly, lavender repels fleas so it could have, unwittingly, actually played a part in preventing the spread of the disease.  An interesting applied label on the bottle suggests it was found in London, in Fleet Street, in February 1937. It could of been a general purpose apothecary bottle but it seems perfect in terms of size and color for containing lavender oil. This is a wonderful little free blown English glass apothecary bottle, so rare that anything quite like it is unlikely to be offered for salefor a considerable time. The condition is really exceptional considering its fragile nature. There is a section missing from the neck (see photographs below) but otherwise it is in perfect condition. There appears to be some of the original residual contents of the bottle adhering to the upper part of the body (see photograph #2 in the sequence below).  A fantastic find and a wonderful addition to any specialist collection of medical / drug jars / bottles or your dealer's inventory! We hope you are as excited about it as we are!Good luck and thanks for bidding with harmic.little.Absolutely guaranteed authentic. Insurance is included in USA Priority mail shipping. Bottle Auction: H.P Herb Wild Cherry Bitters Bottle

H.P Herb Wild Cherry Bitters Bottle Bottle Auction Description: You are bidding on a AWESOME H.P Herb Wild Cherry Bitters Reading, Pa. The bottle is aprox 10 1/4" high, I call the color light yellow amber. It is a little darker at the top and bottom, not the normal amber color one. NO chips, cracks, or staining but it does have a very small open bubble just below the letter B in Bitters on the roof. I have tried to show this on a picture, there are NO cracks from it. It does not distract very much from this great color Semi Cabin Bitters with Rope corners. This bottle is getting harder to find!GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!

On Feb-22-11 at 17:41:36 PST, seller added the following information:ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This bottle has a round bottle/no base. It apparently was not meant to stand upright. EMBOSSED Lettering. There are seams along the body of the bottle that end at the neck. There is a melted/molten spot so it appears as if the "lip" was applied to the neck. There are no threads on the outside or inside of bottle neck. Bottle appears symmetrical, however, the glass is not completely even so it doesn't appear to be machine made. More likely from a mold of some kind. No chips or cracks. When held up to light, amber/brown glass is translucent.
