Bottle Auction: Late 18th Century Puce Pontiled Fancy Cologne

Late 18th Century Puce Pontiled Fancy Cologne Bottle Auction Description: CSR BOTTLE AUCTIONS Late 18th Century Puce Pontiled Fancy Cologne Brought To You By Chris Rowell Online Auctions Auction #1253. Late 18th Century Puce Pontiled Fancy Cologne, unembossed fancy cologne with large Grecian urn with leafy plant growing out of it with a winged face on the shoulder bulb possibly representing a god of luck or an angel, Deep Copper Puce, Open Pontil Base, 6 3/4"H x 2 1/4"W, BIM, Outwardly Rolled Lip, American or European Circa 1790-1810, Condition is dug with overall staining and quite a bit of usage wear, also there is a 1/2 inch lip chip with about a 1 inch crack extending from it down into the neck. Due to the density of the color the crack is had to see. This is a very early and rare bottle I have seen similar examples in Clear flint glass but never in any color. This example was recently dug from an 1830s Philadelphia privy but judging by the usage wear was quite old when discarded. There has been some debate as to weather this was made in America or is of European origin. This could have been produced at an early Philadelphia area glass house. Recent research has found several American embossed bottles that were produced during the last decade of the 18th century and first decade of the 19th century. This bottle could quite easily fall into that range. Terms Please Read Shipping will be by USPS Priority Mail. Bottle Auction: Incredible and Rare Western Flask

Incredible and Rare Western Flask Bottle Auction Description: I do my very best to collect top examples and this is one of them. This is a pint" Fleckenstein & Mayer, ( monogram), Portland, O." This is not the slug plate version, but a private mold with huge embossing. There are maybe 6 of these known, and this is the finest I have ever seen. The crudity is spectacular with folds, and creases as well as bubbles and very crude glass. The color is the best I have seen in over 40 years of collecting Oregon glass. Shading from pure yellow with green tone, to light golden in color, it looks pretty in any lighting. As for condition, this one is MINT. Never cleaned, and no issues whatsoever. This one has it all, and were it not for some financial issues I must attend to, it would never be offered. I am having second thoughts about selling it as I type...in any case, buyer to pay $7.85 postage in the continental US. Good Luck!

Bottle Auction: L. Q. C. WISHART'S PINE TREE TAR CORDIAL PHILA. - Forest Green Colored

L. Q. C. WISHART'S PINE TREE TAR CORDIAL PHILA. - Forest Green Colored Bottle Auction Description: A beautiful bottle that was blown from a forest green colored glass with numerous tiny bubbles .Pine Tree Tar Cordial was not a liquor but was a remedy for throat and lung diseases. It stands 7 5/4" tall, and is 2 3/16" square. The lip is a crudely made wide, sloping band that sits atop a long neck that ends at the rounded shoulders. The base is flat around the outside then drops into a sunken dome with a recessed dot in the center. The corners of the body and the bases edge are beveled. The body has four, flat panels with arched tops. Three of these are embossed. The first one reads; L. Q. C. WISHART'S the second, in three lines; PINE TREE TAR CORDIAL PHILA the third panel has PATENT in an arch across the top, a nice embossed pine tree in the middle, and the date 1859 in big numbers across the bottom. What more can you ask for in a bottle? There are three manufacturing flaws that are all the same. Two are on the body(see last two photos) and one is on the base. They are divots in the glass that are smooth and were definitely done while the glass was hot. They are either from debris in the mold or bubbles that broke through to the surface while the glass was molten. I guarantee that they are not chips or dings. The bottle is perfect except for a few light scratches here and there. Altogether a wonderful piece that would grace any bottle collection. Thank you for looking! NOTE: I lost both of my legs to amputation due to a work accident with no insurance and now I am forced to rely on an unreliable young adult to go to the P. O. for me. I will do my best to expedite the shipping of your purchase but please bear with me as things are out of my control.

Bottle Auction: rare 1860s antique Dixon & Carson 41 Walker ST N.Y teal blob top Squat bottle

rare 1860s antique Dixon & Carson 41 Walker ST N.Y teal blob top Squat bottle Bottle Auction Description: Up for bid is a very nice 1860s squat bottle from N.Y. The bottle is a deep teal green. The bottle has strong embossing which reads Dixon & Carson 41 Walker ST N.Y. The bottle stands 6 3/4 inches tall and is 2 1/2 inches wide. The bottle has been professionally cleaned. Some of these bottles come pontiled but this one has a smooth base. The bottle is free from chips, cracks, high point wear. The only thing worth mentioning is a long stretched bubble that streaks down the kneck. It looks like the bubble bursted while being made which is on the inside of the bottle. The bubble where it looks like it had popped isnt a deep burst or even sharp, looks like the burst melted into the area where the bottle slopes which left it more smooth then most bubble bursts are. I would call minor. Its definitly a great bottle. Not to many of these come up. If anyone has any questions please ask. Good luck everyone! PAYPAL ONLY AND SHIPPING ONLY TO USA

Bottle Auction: Early 18th Century Dutch English Onion Bottle No Damage

Early 18th Century Dutch English Onion Bottle No Damage Bottle Auction Description: For sale is one of several early onion bottles I'm going to be listing on eBay in coming days. It's hard to definitively date these things, but this one is most likely early 18th century. Although not a professional historian or curator himself, my Dad, who passed in 2002 on his 91st birthday, had a number of marine (and terrestrial) archeology friends and contacts; he collected these bottles over the years as they were offered to him from those who found them at various sites. Each of his bottles is labeled with a serial number on the bottom indicating where he obtained it. Unfortunately, I can't find his master list, so for now, all I have is each bottle and the number on the bottom, of so-far-unknown significance. This bottle, Dad's #5, is 7" tall and 5.5" width. It's in good shape, with the scuffs you'd expect given its age. It's squat, slightly off center, and made of the usual dark green glass. There is no decorking or string rim/ lip damage noted. It has bubbles and nice swirl lines. It has what appears to be a round-ish English style rough pontil mark with some sharp edges. Shipping at cost, usually by priority mail (despite all the grief they receive, the USPS has an excellent track record with my shipments, plus I do good packing). NC residents add sales tax. If you desire insurance, or for small highly valuable items that must have insurance, or for international buyers, or for forms of payment other than PayPal, or for manners of shipping other than USPS, or for local pick-up, please contact me BEFORE paying. Returns at my expense for materially inaccurate descriptions if item rec'd in the same condition as sent. Notify me of this desire within 48 hours of receipt of item. Be sure to see my other auctions being posted today for WWII B-26 instrument panel gauges, an antebellum diploma from the University of Virginia, a turn of the century Masonic door knocker, an original Lionel GG-1 locomotive, an early Masonic printing block, a belle epoch mahogany display case in unusual pyramidal shape, early condoms (!!), a candlestick phone pay station, an exquisite early 19th century silver Masonic Mark Medal, a Masonic cast iron paper stamp/ embosser, and an old cigar store Indian. And are you looking for a William IV police truncheon or a first generation Colt SAA? If so, contact me about those too!

Bottle Auction: Antique Yellow Amber Pontil Umbrella Ink Bottle NJ NY

Antique Yellow Amber Pontil Umbrella Ink Bottle NJ NY Bottle Auction Description: Up for auction is an antique umbrella ink bottle in a beautiful shade of yellow amber. It has a "glass chip" pontil which is hard to photograph but easy to see in person. It has a hinge mold base. Umbrella inks like these date from the 1840's to the early 1860's, when empontilling fell out of fashion. This ink bottle dates to the latter half of the period. It was dug in an 1860's privy in northern NJ along with many other bottles from the same time period. It was found buried a foot or so away from another pontiled ink, the cobalt one in the pictures. I was told it is likely of NJ or NY manufacture, which would make sense given where it was dug. Note: the cobalt ink is NOT included in the auction! The color is a nice shade of yellow amber. It's hard to get an accurate picture representation as different lighting yields differences in the color, but picture 4 captures it quite nicely. It's a desirable color for an umbrella ink, especially a pontiled one.The condition I'd grade a 9 out of 10. It's got some very light ground wear and light internal content stain, and there is the small flake I mention in the condition description. You can see it in the 7th picture. But everyone I've shown the bottle to hasn't noticed it, I have to point it out for them to see it. It displays perfectly. The crudeness of the inwardly rolled lip, wonderful whittled texture, and general effect of the bottle make it a sight to behold. I was happy to dig it and will be happy to see it go to another home. Bottle will be shipped after payment is received. Payment is expected within 3 days of the auction ending. Shipping cost includes shipment tracking and insurance. I will pack it very securely.Good luck!

Bottle Auction: Beautiful Medium Blue CRYSTAL SODA WATER/ S.F. CA not a dug bottle

Beautiful Medium Blue CRYSTAL SODA WATER/ S.F. CA not a dug bottle Bottle Auction Description: This auction is for a Crystal Soda Water bottle from S.F. CA. Its never been in the ground, found in a basement in S.F. many years ago. It was found with some heavy dust on the inside as well as the outside. I always liked these because of their unique shape along with a very different type of applied lip. This one is very close to mint with only a few shallow light scratches. Embossing is very distinct, with really no wear to any of the letters. excellent crudity in the form of numerous small bubbles, a very fine pebbly effect to the glass and some fine whittle. This is a smooth base bottle. There is a very large bubble on the inside of the neck that is very shallow. The applied lip has some drippy glass that extends to the top of the neck. This is an exceptionable example of a very unique West Coast bottle.Embossing readsCRYSTAL /SODA /WATER Co. //Rear embossing readsPATENTED /NOV. 12 - 1872 /TAYLOR'S /U. S. P I //U.
