Bottle Auction: B Stroh Brewing Detroit MI Pre Pro Blob Beer Bottle BQ

B Stroh Brewing Detroit MI Pre Pro Blob Beer Bottle BQ Bottle Auction Description: B Stroh Brewing Detroit MI Pre Pro Blob Beer Bottle BQ Click Images to EnlargeFrom a large collection of brewery bottles and porcelain and ceramic stoppers, I have another interesting and rare beer bottle for your collection. This glass bottle features a blob top which is typical for beer bottles that were made from the late 1880's through the invention of the crown cap and the crown top style of bottle in the 1903-1905 time frame. Bottles like this were meant to be filled, a paper label applied to the unembossed side, possibly a neck label would also be applied, the stopper set in place, and into a wooden case it went for delivery to a home or tavern.Condition is key to collectible beer bottles or really with any antique glass. I try my best to describe the condition of my bottles and to show each bottle with photographs that really allow you to judge the condition for yourself. If you have questions, I am very happy to try to provide more detail to help you decide if this bottle will work for your collection. I've been searching for the best possible condition bottles and stoppers for years, and hopefully, you will agree that this is another bottle that just doesn't surface in this condition very often. Please see specific details about this bottle below.Regarding shipping and packing for my bottles: I gladly combine multiple bottles and/or stoppers in one package to save you the absolute most money on postage. I wrap every bottle in foam material or bubble wrap and tape each one up very well. Then, I float the bottle inside a sturdy cardboard box with peanuts or paper, to really cushion it on it's way to your home. Insurance is always available at additional fee which is payable by the bidder. Generally speaking, I pack bottles very, very well and I don't take my responsibility to get this to you in undamaged condition lightly! Whether you want to ship via Parcel Post or Priority Mail, I'll save you the most money and charge only a tiny handling fee for my out-of-pocket expenses. Most of my packing materials are recycled, and that keeps material costs low.I have the following types of items on eBay this week and over the coming weeks. If you are a collector of these items, please add me to your "favorite sellers" and come back frequently to take a look at what is listed. I do not have a store, and my auctions are always 7 days long. If you make it a plan to check in with me every Monday night, you'll get a chance to see everything that I have and not miss out on any of these treasures. My plans include selling several dozen beer bottles, several hundred porcelain ceramic beer stoppers from beer bottles, hundreds of micro brewery brewpub coasters from the 1983-1995 time period, etc. If you are looking for breweriana, especially embossed beer bottles or porcelain stoppers caps from Philadelphia, Baltimore, New Jersey, Chicago, New England and other parts of the USA, I have some great collectible items for you to consider bidding on.This bottle (only ONE available) is described as follows:Glass color: aquaHeight: 9 1/4 inchesStyle of lip: blob topSeam extends from base to: half way up the neck Embossing on front: B. Stroh Brew'g Co. Detroit, MICH. RegisteredEmbossing on back: NoneOverall condition of bottle: Beautiful display bottle, with full pre prohibition paper label on the "non embossed" side and strong embossing on the other side. This mint condition blob beer bottle has been well preserved. It appears that this is a Baltimore Loop style of blob top. There is no porcelain stopper or wire assembly with this bottle. The paper label is really spectacular! The label is around 4 1/4" tall and 3 1/2" wide. There is a 1 1/2" long crack in the label, to the right of the word "Beer" and extending to the edge of the label to the right of the word "Poison." The text on the label is as follows: "Highest Award and Medal Worlds Fair 1893. Stroh's Bohemian Beer, Special Bottling for Family Use, Telephone 316, Pure and Without Drugs or Poison." The label appears fully adhered to the glass bottle, so no worries about this label falling off anytime soon.City: Detroit State: MichiganCountry: United States Brewery Information (from "American Breweries II" by Dale Van Wieren) MI - 109 - D; Open: 1902 Closed: 1919 at prohibition. This brewery reopened in 1933 and continued to grow into a super-regional brewer and supplied beer throughout much of the midwestern United States for many decades in the twentieth century.Bottler Information (if known)none availablePaper Label intact? No Markings on porcelain stopper: N/ACondition of porcelain stopper: (Strong - Average - Weak - White): N/A Misc. comments about this bottle: This aqua blob top bottle is in very near mint condition. Bottle Auction: *** EXT. RARE 1850's o.p. NEWPORT, R.I. hair bottle ***

*** EXT. RARE 1850's o.p. NEWPORT, R.I. hair bottle *** Bottle Auction Description:               o.p. ANDERSON'S hair bottle, NEWPORT, R.I.                  DESCRIPTION: This is a very rare and desirable open pontil bottle from Rhode Island embossed G. ANDERSON'S // AMBROSIAL / INVIGORATOR / FOR THE HAIR // NEWPORT, R.I. It is aqua, rectangular with slightly fluted corners, and measures 5-7/8" tall, 2-1/8" wide and 1-1/4" deep.       CONDITION: Excellent-plus. No cracks or chips. A very clean, fairly crude  bottle from the 1850's. There is a very small, slightly rough spot on the lip that is not visible but can be felt. Even with a magnifying glass it's tough to see. I don't consider this a big deal and only mention it for accuracy.  There is what appears to be a very small seed or potstone on the fluted corner just beneath the S and O in Anderson's. This is visible in the first two photos below. It might look like a nick in the glass but it is not. There is just a slight indent over the seed. Finally, there is a very narrow air bubble in the pontil that is visible at about the 5 o'clock position  in the bottom photo. None of this is any big deal especially with a bottle of this rarity.       SHIPPING: U.S. only. Priority Mail shipping is a flat $10.00 and includes insurance.  I will be happy to combine multiple items for shipping. I generally ship 1-2 days after payment clears. I've never lost an item to damage in shipping and don't plan to start now. I package very well and take every precaution to prevent damage from occurring during transit so cannot be responsible for items that might get damaged after I mail them.      PAYMENT: Payment is by PayPal only.      RETURNS: Item is  sold "As Is" and as described and therefore is generally not returnable. The ONLY reason I will accept a return is if the item is grossly misrepresented in this auction. A money back refund would be limited to the actual sale price of the item and initial shipping cost. Return shipping cost including insurance will be the responsibility of the buyer.      OTHER: It is the responsibility of the bidder to read and understand the description of the item and the other conditions and terms explained in this auction. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask before bidding.

Bottle Auction: Ca. 1905 USPHS Green diamond lattice Poison Bottle

Ca. 1905 USPHS Green diamond lattice Poison Bottle Bottle Auction Description: This is a marvelous large 11 1/2 inch tall pharmacy bottle embossed U.S.P.H.S on the base. I believe it is from the United States Public Health Service. Judging from the tooled top I would date the bottle from 1890 - 1910. It is covered with a diamond - lattice pattern similar to other smaller poison bottles. The color in this bottle is spectacular. It is mostly a beautiful dark forest green but the top and the base are a brilliant red amber with an area in the side being amber. I would guess the bottle to have been made during a glass color change in the blowing process. The bottle is absolutely mint and drop dead beautiful . It would be very difficult to find a nicer example of this rare bottle. On Jun-16-10 at 10:06:14 PDT, seller added the following information:Postage will be determined using the ebay calculator. No additional "handling" charges are added.

RARE RAVENNA AIR TIGHT FRUIT JAR AQUA QUART 1857-1860 Bottle Auction Description: For your consideration is a rare quart size Air-Tight Fruit jar. Bottle Auction: Antique Highland Bitters Scotch Tonic Bottle

Antique Highland Bitters Scotch Tonic Bottle Bottle Auction Description: Here's a nice old bitters bottle. It is embossed as follows: HIGHLAND BITTERS AND SCOTCTH TONIC. I found that this bitters was made in Memphis Tennessee and dates from around 1870 - 1880. This dark amber bottle is nine and a half inches tall and it is three and a half inches across at its widest point. It shows some wear on the bottom and on the ridges. It also has a tiny stone bruise on the front and some roughness on the inside of the lip. That said, this bottle is clean and free of chips, cracks, stains, and other problems. It's a nice example of a hard to find southern bitters bottle. Bid with confidence. This item is guaranteed to be as described.PLEASE READ THE TERMS BELOW BEFORE BIDDINGI do not respond to requests for a Buy It Now price or offers to buy items before the end of the auction.I do not allow for pickup of items. Bottle Auction: I. COVERT'S BALM OF LIFE - Rare O.P. Olive Green Med.

I. COVERT'S BALM OF LIFE - Rare O.P. Olive Green Med. Bottle Auction Description: From an old-time Massachusetts collection, I have for sale this rare olive green medicine bottle with an open pontil. It is embossed "I. COVERT'S" on one side, and "BALM OF LIFE" on the opposite side. It is supposedly a characteristic of this bottle to have light embossing, so I am assuming there is a period after the "I", and an apostrophe between the "T" and "S" of "COVERT'S". I am relying on Baldwin's book as well, which states that the content was "for consumption" from Auburn, NY, as appeared in the Ithaca Journal on Nov. 20, 1839. This bottle is just about 5 7/8" tall, and is generally rectangular in shape, with beveled vertical edges, giving it 8 actual sides. The pontil scarred base measures 1 5/8" x 2 3/8". The mold line passes more or less diagonally through the pontil, and is quite pronounced. The center of the base is somewhat concave, and the pontil scar and ring do not interfere with the bottle's ability to stand upright, which it does very well. The embossing is somewhat light, but very readable, and the bottle has never been tumbled or buffed or altered in any way. The applied double collared top has extra glass hanging down , extending almost halfway around the neck. The lip has in-the-making roughness, as well as a dip, and my observation, under magnification, is that it is a manufacturing flaw, typical of bottles of this age (1830's). There is an internal bubble, about 3/4" long, in the shoulder area, which is stable. The glass is very seedy, very whittled, and is a rich olive green color, leaning towards the green. There are no chips, cracks, or bruises, and there is no haze. There is a very faint bit of inside dust or dirt. I have not washed the inside or outside. I guarantee my items to be as described, and welcome any questions, and will answer them to the best of my ability. I recommend the purchase of insurance. Thank-you.

Bottle Auction: Unusual Putnam Lightning Style NY Milk Bottle Old 1800'

Unusual Putnam Lightning Style NY Milk Bottle Old 1800' Bottle Auction Description: Up for auction at No Reserve is an Unusual Putnam made Lightening style Fruit Jar Milk Bottle. I've never seen this before, ever ? This and the other bottle I have up for auction are unknown to me, any help is appreciated. Us the enlarge button for a close up view. This had the wire snap down bail, as soon as I started to wash it, it came apart due to it was rusty. I cleaned this very little. These came out of an old home and were still on a shelf in the basement. Condition is excellent as show. I'm guessing this is from the 1870's. It is approx 7 1/2" tall. Check out my other unusual bottle I have up for auction. I will put a Buy it Now up, once a bid is placed, that option is gone. Look at all photos and ask any questions, all sales are final. On Jun-03-10 at 05:53:48 PDT, seller added the following information:Could someone kindly tell me a little about this bottle, I could not find anything like it and I can't figure out the second name after Alex ? I appreciate any knowledge from any experts and Thank you and good luck.On Jun-04-10 at 03:42:20 PDT, seller added the following information:Are there any expert bottle collectors that can Identify this bottle / jar , did I explain it correctly? And does anyone know the name after Alex? Thank you.On Jun-05-10 at 10:07:26 PDT, seller added the following information:This is what a fellow ebayer and collector has to say-I have been collecting fruit jars for 30+ years and quite honestly, I have never heard of this jar until now. I have looked at the photos over & over, but I cannot make out what the name after Alex is.I have checked page after page of "Red Book No.10" (the fruit jar "bible")but cannot find a listing for this jar. Personally, I think this is a wonderful find & would tend to think that this jar is quite rare. Some potential bidders may shy away due to the broken wire, but this can be replaced very easily.Best of luck with the auction, the jar should do quite well. I have the wire !!! We are thinking this may be a One Of A Kind, Here's your chance to own possibly the only known example !!! Good Luck and let me know if you think you know the second name .
