C 1900 Whitall Tatum Mahogany Apothecary Chest & Glass Medicine Poison Bottles Bottle Auction Description: PLEASE read all of the listing. Please wait for your invoice from us before paying. We will quote actual shipping costs plus any extra for insurance which protects both the buyer and the seller from loss or damage. Insurance is mandatory. If being shipped by Priority mail to locations in the USA, it is covered up to $100.00 but over that, the cost will be an additional $1.70 added to shipping cost per every $100.00 extra in final value. If shipping is by first class, it is $1.70 for every $100.00 value. If FedEx, it will be determined at time of invoice. We do not make anything extra on shipping, handling or insurance and only charge what shipper quotes. We appreciate your kind understanding on this issue. If you have any questions, please inquire. Some bidders are not seeing all the photos. I use my own photo service so they are larger and shown below. Please scroll all the way down. Description: Original set circa 1900 antique Whitall Tatum Company mahogany apothecary chest and glass medicine bottles is almost 100% complete except for one replacement bottle. It comes with all the labels for medicines that had a backing to moisten and place on the bottles. They have some tears but could still be used by aligning the torn sections. Set has 16 bottles with glass stoppers that are ground to fit and each of the 13 clear original ones have W.T.Co. 8 U.S.A on the bottoms and measure 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" x 4 1/4" to top of stopper. The 14th clear one is round and the stopper is the same size as the others and too small for this bottle. The other 2 are cobalt blue with "X"'s all over them and stopper has cork around it. They are poison bottles and have Poison embossed on the top edge and both side of the stopper (sorry, my camera or rather the photographer could ot photograph the Poison on both sides of the stopp, so actually 3 plase on each stopper). Bottom has W.T.Co. 2 embossed on them. No chips, flakes or cracks on any of the bottles, even the glass stoppers on the poison bottles except one small nick on top of one of the poison stippers crown. Also included is a wood small case with the original measuring glass with Table, Dessert and Tea embossed on the side and W.T.CO. E on the bottom. Also included is lift out box that contains 2 salve jars with screw on metal covers, one in amber and other in cobalt blue and both having W.T.CO. 672 I on bottom and are 2" across x 1 1/2" tall. The box is in excellent condition with a few scratches on top, has fold down handle, 2 side clips and lock mechanism. Sorry, no key. It measures 5" x 7 1/4" x 10 1/2". One inside divider is broken half way down. Total weight before packing 6 pounds and 2 ounces. Also included is a small period amber bottle. No reserve. Auction ends Tuesday night. Please Note: We are not sure about the accuracy of eBays shipping calculator but if it is off, we will adjust to correct amount on invoice with no extra fees, just what the postal service quotes. Please do not peanilize me or other sellers for slow shipping because when it leaves our hands and gets into postal or other shipper, it is their responsibility. We do not hand deliver goods from our location to yours but we DO get items shipped by the day after payment unless it is a weekend. And please also note that we charge actual shipping based on distance from east coast to west coast and should it cost less, we always refund the buyer unless the difference is under $1.00 and 90% of the time, we pay extra to insure the item. With eBay's and PayPal's ever increasing fees to sellers, we are desperately trying to maintain the high level of quality of product, speedy shipping and great packing that has permitted us to attain eBay's seller status with special icon at top of our listings. With that distinction comes a small but important % discount on our sellers fees....and every little bit helps. These are based on the star system they have in the feedback area now and if you should have any problems with a purchase from us, we would appreciate the opportunity to fix is before you leave a less than stellar star rating. This small discount is what has kept us from having to place reserves on items which benefits you, the buyer. All my items are guaranteed original. I do not believe in owning or selling reproductions. If you have any doubts at all, you are welcome to return item for a full refund including shipping. I am listing some other interesting items in different catagories so please see my (view seller's other auctions) and combine to save on shipping.

Bottle Auction: Dutch Onion Bottle, Horse Hoof Shape, Circa 1710-1720, Nice Light Color

Dutch Onion Bottle, Horse Hoof Shape, Circa 1710-1720, Nice Light Color Bottle Auction Description: Here is an extra nice example of a bottle that is approximately 300 years old. It is a Dutch onion bottle, this particular shape known as a "horse hoof." The color is a light yellow olive, lighter than is normally seen in this bottle. This enables you to easily see the high kickup when displayed. It has a "laid on ring" top and an extremely crude and sharp glass pontil scar that we tried to capture in the third photo. Please note that the bottle isn't as light as shown in that particular photo, as it was taken in strong sunlight. There are no chips or cracks, only a couple of areas of inside stain and some unusual area of fine squiggly lines that almost look like writing (can be seen but not felt), which I tried to capture in the last photo.

Bottle Auction: Scarce Barry's Malarial Antidote, Augusta, GA, Amber

Scarce Barry's Malarial Antidote, Augusta, GA, Amber Bottle Auction Description: Here is a hard to find Augusta medicine bottle with a really cool name and extra long neck. It is embossed "BARRY'S MALARIAL ANTIDOTE, AUGUSTA, GA." These bottles come in two sizes, with this being the smaller sized example. It is in a medium shade of amber that looks particularly nice when backlit, as can be seen in several of the photos. It has a crude area of glass that partially runs down the neck and only has a couple of minor areas of damage worth mentioning. It has a shallow smooth flake about a third of the way up a side panel, and a shallow open bubble on the shoulder. The last two photos were taken with a strong flash to show these areas. We would like to add a little information on malarial type bottles in Augusta, GA. The city is located on the Savannah River, which often flooded in the 1800's before construction of the levee. The swamp-like conditions were often blamed for sickness and disease, and many people relocated to "the hill" area of Summerville during the winter months. Several proprietors created their own special concoctions to treat people sickened by the malarial outbreak. Bottles included this "Barry's Malarial Antidote", "Horsey's Antidote for Malaria", "Frog Pond Chill & Fever Cure", and the most famous of all "The River Swamp Chill & Fever Cure." Bottle Auction: Early Western Bitters- Asher Taylor.

Early Western Bitters- Asher Taylor. Bottle Auction Description: Here is a bright yellow example of this 1860s San Francisco bitters. This one was found in a cache of all known examples of this fancy bottle in 1998. Of the examples found, only a handful were mint, and only a few in this light yellow coloration. The fancy embossing reads " A.T. & Co." which stands for Asher Taylor & Co. This was a Champagne Wine Bitters of which much has been written about in several western bitters references. This example has a nice applied top, and whittle effect in the shoulder area. There is a perfect 6 inch bubble running down the neck, and again a very light yellow which is much more brilliant than the photos. It has never been cleaned, and other than a cooling check in the mouth, is perfect. The check is about 5/16" long and is fully contained in the top. Not an impact flash, this is typical of 1860s western glass. Otherwise a perfect bottle in a gorgeous color. Buyer to pay $8.85 postage in the continental US. Good Luck!
