Bottle Auction: Extremely Rare 1860s San Francisco Medicine

Extremely Rare 1860s San Francisco Medicine Bottle Auction Description: In 38 plus years of aggressively collecting western blown and distributed glass, this medicine bottle remains unique in my experience. This 1860s oval medicine was found a couple of years ago in San Francisco. It is an impressive 7" tall with a flared lip. and early flat smooth base. The embossing reads" Wm.H. Keith Apothecaries, San Francisco" This specimen is heavily whittled, and has crudity throughout. These are very scarce in aqua, but unheard of in this amethyst coloration. I have seen a few with a grey or slightly pink cast, but not this vibrant amethyst. This is not the result of being altered ( 100%) guarantee, or sun coloring. I have some open pontiled bottles in this exact color from Eastern concerns. This one was made in this color. If you like rare and crude glass this is a tough one to beat. The condition is gem mint...not one issue or damage. Free shipping! Good luck!

Bottle Auction: MILLVILLE ATMOSPHERIC 1/2 PINT FRUIT JAR

MILLVILLE ATMOSPHERIC 1/2 PINT FRUIT JAR Bottle Auction Description: Up for auction is the last remaining jar from our once large fruit jar collection. It is the rare and difficult to find Millville 1/2 pint fruit jar, reference Red Book #2185. The front reads "MILVILLE" , back reads "HITALL'S PATEN', the lid reads "WHITALL'S PATENT JUNE 18TH 1861. The clamp has surface rust and will not unscrew, I did not use any force to open the clap, so it may work with a lubricant and a little effort. The body of the jar is stain free, but has slight remnants of whatever was stored in the jar, it is a very fine ring of a golden brown color. If the clamp was removed it could no doubt be cleaned and the jar would be perfect. It has no dings, chips, cracks and the entire surface is clean and shiny. If you have any further questions or would like additional photos do not hesitate to email us.

Bottle Auction: c1836 GEORGE WASHINGTON / TAYLOR HISTORICAL FLASK GI-25

c1836 GEORGE WASHINGTON / TAYLOR HISTORICAL FLASK GI-25 Bottle Auction Description: Stunningly beautiful and rare, original, ca1836, Open Pontil, Quart Size, American Historical Flask / Bottle featuring a bust portraits of George Washington and Zachary Taylor (or Henry Clay) by the Bridgeton Glass Works of Bridgetown, New Jersey and designated GI-25 by McKearin/Wilson. This amazing, attic find, Washington / Taylor Historical Flask measures approx. 8" tall and 5 1/2" at its widest point. It is aquamarine in color and is in as mint condition as one could expect to find a Historical Flask of this period. The Flask features a classical, profile bust portrait of George Washington on one side with text that reads "Bridgetown, New Jersey" in a semicircle above bust. The reverse features a similar, classical, profile bust portrait which has generally been identified as Zachary Taylor. There is some doubt among experts as to who this bust is meant to portray. Although most have identified it as a depiction of Zachary Taylor, others believe that it may actually be a portrait of Henry Clay. The Flask has a plain / sheared lip, open pontil on the base and a strongly "whittled" surface. This rare and VERY beautiful, Washington / Taylor hand blown, American Historical Flask is in near mint condition - clean and crisp without even the slightest hint of surface wear, staining or discoloration. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or damage of any kind. The Flask is amazingly well preserved and is unconditionally guaranteed to be original and of the period ca1836. An exceptionally beautiful, very rare and amazingly well preserved, ca1836 Open Pontil, Quart Size, American Historical Flask / Bottle featuring bust portraits of George Washington and Zachary Taylor (or perhaps Henry Clay) by the Bridgeton Glass Works of Bridgetown, New Jersey (designated GI-25 by McKearin/Wilson) and a fantastic addition to any Collection!!!PLEASE ALSO NOTE: We will be leaving for a 10 day family vacation to Cape Hatteras on Friday July 22nd and will be away when this auction closes. We will have internet access and will send Invoices to winning bidders but we will not be able to ship any items until after we return on Tuesday, August 2nd at the earliest. IF THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU THEN PLEASE DO NOT BID ON ITEMS IN THIS WEEK'S AUCTION. Thanks for your interest in our weekly eBay auctions and for your support over the past 13+ years. We plan to continue to offer our usual selection of rare and interesting lots at auction on eBay in the years to come so please check our listings once a week - you never know what you might find!! Overseasshippping is extra and cost will be quoted at bidders request. Massachusetts residents must add 5% sales tax. Insurance is required on all items selling for $400 or more and optional on items selling for under $400 (but highly recommended. If you do not want insurance please let us know. Please check out other early and interesting items offered by this seller on ebay. Click Here to See Our Items We Have for Sale in the eBay Gallery Important Notes about Shipping Charges and the eBay "Detailed Seller Rating" Star System: The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. We have NEVER requested Feedback from our customers as we were taught that "fishing for compliments" was impolite but the new eBay Detailed Rating System has put us in a rather tight spot. Most buyers are unaware that eBay bases a monthly fee discount on a Seller's "Star" rating. A monthly average of "4.6 Stars" (in any one of the four "Star" categories) costs us approximately $400 in additional eBay Fees - that's $400 above what we would pay if we had a "4.8 Star" average in all 4 "Star" categories!! As a consequence we hope you do not find us rude to ask that if you are happy with our items, our service, and our packing & shipping please be sure to use the "Star" rating system and remember that a "5 Star" rating is the only way we can qualify for eBay's fee reduction program. ,Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool. Bottle Auction: J.R.DONALDSON/NEWARK/N.J. Cobalt Mug Base,Backward "J"

J.R.DONALDSON/NEWARK/N.J. Cobalt Mug Base,Backward "J" Bottle Auction Description: A seldom offered for sale, J.R.Donaldson, Newark, N.J. ("J" is backwards) cobalt blue mug base RARE bottle from Newark, N.J. This is for the serious antique bottle collector !J.R.Donaldson became the successor to A.W.Rapp in 1847. He died young in 1853 and his wife took over the business for two years and is listed in Newark directories as a bottler. No bottles are embossed with her name. There are only three types of J.R.Donaldson bottles and all are RARE. The back of this bottle is embossed SUPERIOR/MINERAL WATERS/UNION GLASS WORKS. The front is in a slug plate J.R.DONALSON/NEWARK, N.J. with the backward letter "J." The front has been highlighted in white for photographic reasons. A picture of the bottle is in my book, " The History and Directory of Sodas and Beers, 1846-1905, page 43. This is a dug bottle and has never been cleaned professionaly. I believe if the new owner wants a real shinny bottle it would respond well to a professional tumbel, it always looked fine to me and I never bothered. As a dug bottle it has some light scratches, marks, and at the top of the lip there is a bruise. In my scans if you look closely at the last one, at 12o'clock the coloring is a little lighter, hard to see but that's what I'm talking about, looks tight and good to me. Any questions ask. Bottle is 7 3/8 " tall, 2 1/2 inches wide, pontil, mug base, cobalt blue color, and dates about 1850. Check out all the scans and you be the judge as to how beautiful this RARE bottle looks. Bottles like this don't become available very often. Thanks for looking!! GOOD LUCK !!S/H is $8.95.

Bottle Auction: PONTILED OVOID SHAPED DEMIJOHN EMBOSSED 20

PONTILED OVOID SHAPED DEMIJOHN EMBOSSED 20 Bottle Auction Description: Here we have a 20-1/8 inch high, three piece mold demijohn with an embossed 20 on the shoulder. The base has a large jagged pontil scar which is 2 inches in diameter. Near the base there is a fold in the glass....no damage. The only issue is a very shallow flake off the lip, I think this can be seen in a couple of the close-up photos, this is not at all visually distracting. These pictures were taken at the same time in different lighting situations, all are pretty accurate....I'll call the color a medium yellow olive. Good overall crudity and whittle with a scattering of bubbles....a very impressive demijohn!

Bottle Auction: E Schroeder East St Louis Ale Bottle 1870's Great Color

E Schroeder East St Louis Ale Bottle 1870's Great Color Bottle Auction Description: Classic cream ale bottle from East St Louis. These bottles were popular in the early 1870's. Measures 9-1/4 inches tall. It was dug and has been cleaned. Great bottle to put in a window, it's color really glows with back lighting in a window. There is a 3/16 inches crack just above the S in Schroeder. It is an odd crack, it is ribbon shaped and can not be felt on the surface. May be a small factory defect. I could not get a good picture of it, as you can see from the photos it is hardly visible unless you know exactly where it is. Otherwise clean with no stain or cracks.Payment due within 5 days. Bottle Auction: antique Flaccus Bros amethyst glass fruit jar pint nice

antique Flaccus Bros amethyst glass fruit jar pint nice Bottle Auction Description: For sale is an antique, pre 1900 pint size fruit jar, strong embossing reads "FLACCUS BROS STEERS HEAD FRUIT JAR" it is a pleasant natural turned sun colored lavender in color. the ground lip is about perfect with only 1 very tiny outside edge flake on the side of the lip, most likely from the grinding process. no cracks or breaks in the mouth or anywhere else in the jar, there are the slightest, & I mean hardly noticable, content haze spots inside, only mentioned for accuracy. the lid may not be the original correct 1 because it is clear glass, not lavender, but has the correct words according to the book for lids found with this jar. it is clean has 1 tiny chip on the very bottom rim, you can see it in the picture & has the words "Simplex Pat. Apl. For Trade Mark Registered" there are a few different ones that came on it. the correct 1, a great looking jar that's always appealed to jar collectors because of all the fancy embossing. 1 just like it with a matching color lid sold on ebay a couple weeks ago for $76+, the lids can be found, it's the jar, especially in this fine condition, that's hard to find. the pictures pretty well show the jar for color & condition. please see my other listings for more good fruit jars for sale, will be glad to combine shipping on multiple jars for 1 adjusted price, shipping includes tracking. you have the chioce of Priority mail which is safe & fast or Parcel Post which is slower & often not handled as well. please email with any questions before bidding as all sale are final, ebay now charges seller a "final shipping fee", they get a percentage of what the shipping costs are, I know it isn't fair but, we have to pay it & pass it on to the buyer. PAYMENT DUE 3 DAYS END OF AUCTION..

Bottle Auction: QUALITY NAILSEA WHITE TRAILED GLASS FLASK, BRISTOL 1820

QUALITY NAILSEA WHITE TRAILED GLASS FLASK, BRISTOL 1820 Bottle Auction Description: rhusrluk rhusrluk Antiques in good taste - harmic.littleA VERY BEAUTIFUL free blown English glass flask decorated with white enamel arabesque patterns of different thickness and intensity over a clear glass ground; Nailsea, Bristol, England, circa 1820 - 1840.You won't easily find a better condition or more strikingly attractive Nailsea glass flask than this one (take a look at the photographs below). It really will be a magnificent addition to any private collection or dealer's inventory of early Nailsea glass. This delightful baluster-shaped oval flask with cylindrical neck and rolled-over rim is a masterpiece of glass blowing, even in the wider context of European glass, especially when you bear in mind that it was originally made as an everyday utility item, presumably intended as a container for an alcoholic beverage (see the photographs below).   The large Nailsea glassworks, just outside the port of Bristol, numbered among the largest producers of high quality glass in England in the early decades of the nineteenth century. The extensive labor force originally included German decorators and enamelers, from whom many of the sophisticated techniques of enameling glass were probably learned. These beautiful flasks were made by mixing together different colored glass - in this case a clear glass base color trailed with thin lines of white glass which has been gently and very skillfully teased into these beautiful arabesque shapes with a special glassmaker's tool, a bit like the technique used for making patterns on slipware pottery.  The flask is baluster-shaped in section, with rounded shoulders and gathered in sharply just above the base. The base has still a rough, sharp pontil inside the cleft base that would have been left when the flask was broken off the glassblower's rod. The condition of the flask is absolutely WONDERFUL with no blemishes, chips, cracks or restoration. It is 7 inches in height and approximately 3 ¾ inches wide at the widest point. This flask is an outstanding addition to your collection of Nailsea glass or early drinking flasks. We hope you like it and we wish you success with your bid.
