Bottle Auction: Deep Teal Blob Top Savannah Soda

Deep Teal Blob Top Savannah Soda Bottle Auction Description: Up for auction is a deep teal blob top Savannah soda bottle. This bottle measures 7 1/4in tall and 2 1/2 in across the base. It is strongly embossed J.MANKE & CO./ SAVANNAH in a square slug plate across the front.. The base has a deep, rough, indention that is reminisent of an iron pontil without the oxide deposits. However, I do not think this is a pontil but it just missed it. This bottle has been very lightly cleaned to its original luster and has no chips, cracks, fish eyes, staiins, or high point wear. This bottle sparkles and you would be hard pressed to find a better example. Bid with confidence and good luck.

Bottle Auction: BRIGHT YELLOW! YERBA BUENA BITTERS SAN FRANCISCO SCARCE

BRIGHT YELLOW! YERBA BUENA BITTERS SAN FRANCISCO SCARCE Bottle Auction Description: Here is a very nice example of a popular western bitters from San Francisco, California in a great color. It is a very, very bright yellow coloration with no amber at all, just bright yellow. These bottles are found in various shades of amber and every once in a great color like this pops up.Tooled top, two piece mold with embossing on one side, YERBA BUENA, and on the other side, BITTERS S.F. CAL. The glass is sparkling uncleaned original condition with some waviness and crudeness to the glass. There is some in making darker glass slag swirl in the lip and some glass that stuck to the surface of the base. These are often neatly made so the crudeness of this one is a nice feature. The bottle is perfect except for a touch of some very light outside haze on one side, a match head size hard to see surface bruise on one edge and a 1/4" flash in the thick part of the base corner by the word CAL. These imperfections are all very minor, hard to see and do not detract from the beauty of this bottle. The color in this will brighten up any bitters collection.Fourteen day return privilege guaranteed for money back. Buyer pays postage and any postage left over after mailing will be refunded.

Bottle Auction: Deep Lime Green Blob Top / Hutch NJ Soda Beer Bottle!

Deep Lime Green Blob Top / Hutch NJ Soda Beer Bottle! Bottle Auction Description: Up for auction is this beautiful and unique lime green NJ Bottle! The bottle has a slug plate with W.A. French & Co / N.J. / Red BankI'm not sure what category bottle this falls under, it looks like a mix between a blob top and a hutch. The colors in the pictures above are pretty accurate, but in person the bottle "glows" much more than is depicted. It almost has a radioactive green glow to it when the light hits it. The color is deep when out of the light, but when placed in direct sunlight it is bright and eye catching. The bottle stands 7 1/4" tall and 2 1/4" across the base. The bottle did spend some time underwater and thus could use a tumble. There is uniform wear all over the bottle but the base seems to have taken the brunt of the abuse. There are no chips. Please look at the pictures to get an idea of the extent of the wear. There is one spot on the lip, to the left of the front of the bottle, where there is a U shaped imperfection line/ crack. It looks like a manufacturing flaw because the bottom along the line is rounded and dips in and there is not sign of a bruise anywhere near it (see photos). However, I can not be sure if this is original or a result of a drunken sailor tossing it overboard. Bottles this old and this color are quite scarce! I have a few examples of this bottle and the winning bidder will also be sent a traditional aqua W.A. French for comparison (a special deal for those who decided to read this whole thing!)Please contact me with any questions!Payment expected within 7 days of auction ending. Auction shipping can take up to 3 days, but it usually shipped the next day. Returns accepted within 7 days of receipt of the item, buyer pays return shipping cost unless I failed to mention something in my description. In that case, I will pay return shipping. Don't hesitate to ask questions! On Aug-16-11 at 16:01:57 PDT, seller added the following information: There are no markings on the base of this bottle.

Bottle Auction: PITTSBURGH DOUBLE EAGLE - MOLD FLAW - LIGHT AMBER

PITTSBURGH DOUBLE EAGLE - MOLD FLAW - LIGHT AMBER Bottle Auction Description: The first 3 pictures are after the Flask was cleaned - The next six pictures are before it was cleaned. McKearins # GII-92, Scarce Pint Size Double Eagle, not listed in amber, no embossing in the Oval panels. This is a dug bottle that was cleaned, so it is not perfect, but in very nice condition and displays beautiful. The mold Flaw on the one side is a piece of glass that was stuck to the mold from the last bottle blown in that mold, is my thought on what happened. You can see the flaw in the last 2 Pics, 5 & 6. Sheared fire polished lip, with crude collar, indented base that should be pontiled. There is some minor wear and a inside open bubble near the base by the mold seam. The lip has 2 small thin flakes on the top and a tiny bruise on the inside top edge of lip, these are minor and not distracting. This is one of the crudest Pittsburgh Double Eagles I have ever seen. NICE EARLY CRUDE PITTSBURGH DOUBLE EAGLE! Please, USA shipping only!

Super clean, no, make that super squeaky clean near mint condition. BIMAL, 6" tall and did I mention in mint condition? Mannoni was from Corsica and suceeded his partner C.C. Jackson in business after Jackson suffered a religious conversion in 1898. He was put out of business in 1901 with the passage of the Dispensary act establishing theh Farmville Dispensary, so these bottles were used for only a short while. Bottle Auction: Hawaiian soda bottle / western blob soda bottle

Hawaiian soda bottle / western blob soda bottle Bottle Auction Description: I've been holding this one back for long enough! You've seen the last CRYSTAL / SODA WORKS / HONOLULU / H. I., but this one has a mean, drippy, applied top, and was the only applied-top Hawaiian in the hole. It looks like a fluffy cloud sitting on top of a gem. I mention in the heading that it is western, and that's because if anyone was gonna guess its origin, I think it's unanimous... It came out clean. It sparkled after a bubble bath. There were bottles in the hole that were certainly blown back east. That being said, it has only been water cleaned, and has NO issues. The bottle is 8" long. It has nice color, and plenty of bubbles add to its center-piece appearance. I was going to make a pedestal of Koa, thinking that would make it a big seller, but it seemed like time was running out. It is the round-bottom, embossed, TRADE / J.A.P. / MARK. This is a top example - second to none.

Bottle Auction: Stoddard Blacking Bottle - Olive Green - Pontil Base

Stoddard Blacking Bottle - Olive Green - Pontil Base Bottle Auction Description: To make the decision as to whether this is a Stoddard or Keene blacking bottle, I referred to Plate 10, TOP ROW, items 1 & 4, of Lane & Pappas' book "A Rare Collection of Keene & Stoddard Glass". This gem of a bottle stands about 4 3/4" tall, with a base measuring about 1 3/4" square. The color is olive green, and the base has a significant pontil scar, with a little raised glass that makes the bottle wobble a little, though it still stands steady. The shoulders are high, and the top almost appears to have been pushed down into the shoulder, causing a somewhat depressed area where the top meets the shoulder. The glass is very clean, whittled, and seedy, and there is no damage of any kind. It's a beautiful example of early NH glass, possibly dating to the early 1840's. Thanks.

Bottle Auction: STAR SPRING CO SARATOGA N.Y. Amber Pint STODDARD Glass

STAR SPRING CO SARATOGA N.Y. Amber Pint STODDARD Glass Bottle Auction Description: Old Leon slid a shopping bag across the farmhouse floor, and I caught it, and caught my breath. Inside were 5 of these Star Spring pints, that Leon's wife had collected years earlier. Leon was in his 80's and didn't give a hoot about bottles. I was able to buy all 5 bottles, and put them into my collection, where this one has remained for over 25 years. It's an extremely whittled pint, standing about 7 5/8" tall, embossed "STAR SPRING CO." in an arc, over an embossed 5 pointed star. Below the star - "SARATOGA N.Y.". I don't detect a comma between city and state. The base has an hourglass shaped embossment, and the bottle has an applied double collared top. Dating to between 1865 - 1889, many of these bottles were blown at a Stoddard, NH glass factory. I think this bottle leans towards the mid 1860's, as it has all the Stoddard characteristics - color, crudeness, hardness. I believe Stoddard ceased production around 1873. The color of the bottle is a rich light amber, with a little orange influence, similar to the Middletown VT mineral water bottles. The glass is brilliant and crisp, with no chips, cracks, bruises, or haze. You can easily feel the vertical whittle marks on the exterior, and viewing the bottle with backlighting is a sight to behold. There's nothing like Stoddard glass, in my opinion, and there is consistency in the color of this bottle, without any major darkening of the glass in the shoulder and base areas. Tough to part with! Thanks.
